So...I had problems starting my XXL, so I went to replace the plug just to try things and cross threated the new plug...Now I need to figure out how to take it apart and re-thread where the plug goes.
The other thing...At one point when I tried to start the engine it made a strange noise...nothing I have heard before. Well needless to say now if I push my car it moves like there are no brakes. I'm guessing something broke. Is there an easy fix?

I dont think its the engine because I can make the piston move up and down.

Ok try to clear this up a bit more... If the car is off and you try to push it with your hands it should not move. Mine however does. When everything is off and I give it a push with my hands the car will roll.

Mine does that too, never been a problem. If the receiver is on and the radio is off it won't because of the failsafe. Mine rolls rather easily if everything is off, and you can hear the clutch bell spinning for a couple of seconds. Check to see if your failsafe is working, and turn the spur gears, if the truck wheels turn your ok, as long as the slipper is set correctly. Hope this helps!

As for the motor, the part that you stripped is called the head button it's part # LOSR2217 in the picture from the manual below. You may or may not be able to retap it but the aluminum is relatively soft and the tap you need is an odd size (1/4-28) so it's probably cheaper to replace the head button.
To get it apart if you look at the top of the motor you will see four screws that hold the cooling head on, take those out and the cooling head, head shims, and head button will all come off the motor. Let us know how it goes.

if you push it look at the spir gear to see if it turns when you push it if not something is broke in the trans. as for your striped threads you'll have to pull the head off makeing sure you get any metal into the engine.

You guys are awesome!!! I have to say this is one of the best forums I have joined!
Thanks for the info....

Well I got it started for a moment....It was a bad plug.

As for the threading part for the head button...what I did was take it off and install the plug on the opposite side to help set the threads correct. Once I did that I could put the plug in the correct way. I'm still going to replace the head button though.

Once I had the engine start the other problem has seemed to of gone away. So when the engine is off and if I try to push it it will not move. I guess it fixed its self.

Thanks Guys!!!
