Well the weather is finally breaking some tomorrow 52 deg. went from high 26 to 52 lol. Looks like high 40's and 50's this weekend and would it be ideal for break in. i know the "ideal" is around 60-70 and i know i can put foil or sock over to keep temps up but but i been staring at my maxx for two months now and wondering if those temps are alright to break in. I wanna do it right but just gettin antsy i guess you could say haha. new motor, new upgrades, crap weather= crazyness.

Also i know it says to break in on flat smooth surface ,but where i live i dont want my maxx ran over by oncoming cars ha. i have a track out at my grandparents and an area of ground about 50yds that is cleared off not flat or smooth but grass is that a no no?

Tall grass ,or anything like it will likely work your engine to much for initial runs. Causing it to load up with fuel. Matted down dead grass may be ok.

There must be a parking lot somewhere near you, also do you have a temp gun? If you can keep the temps around 230 you will be ok

not really....our cops are just stupid and will site you for anything no joke.

I would go to a lot and if you get a ticket simply dispute it,most schools are used for recreational purposes on the weekends ,ie kids shooting hoops ect.try that

Do not shoot for 230°. You want your engine to run about 200° during break-in. The trick is going to be 52° weather. 230° in 52° weather would not be good unless you had covered the head completely. I would partially wrap the head and richen the hsn to about 4.5 to 5 turns out, 4 turns out isn't going to cut it. The goal here is to maintain roughly 200° while running the engine nice and rich.

I say around 230 because because in 55 degree weather with a covered head I have had no problem reaching that temp with a rich motor, also it is to my beleif that 200 or under does not produce a good heat cycle, correct me if I'm wrong please someone.
