this is the secound header i've broke in probably 5-10 rides. both times it was right close to the engine. is there something i can replace it with that is stronger or help on with springs. the only thing i can think why they are breaking is because it was raining today, and maybe the hot cold change when the pipe got wet. it wasn't a hard landing at all when it broke. anyone else have this problem?

I cracked one. It was all during the process of my 2.5R dieing. I picked up an OS .18TM and it comes with a new header. I also have a Trinity pipe and it comes with a header for small blocks and one for big blocks. Try calling Traxxas Customer Support, they are top notch and will be able to help you and possibly provide you with a replacement.

I just broke mine today while racing, and my track doesn't have any big jumps -- I replaced my bent once less than two weeks ago.

It's just the way it mounts with screws -- Anytime the header gets touched, it can't give at all. I would suggest going with a different pipe setup that uses springs to hold the manifold -- THS Racing or the Trinity pipe.

At the moment, I'm just frustrated with the Revo.

THS Racing or the Trinity pipe.

will both of this bolt right on with out any mods to a 2.5R?

Trinity Hi-Flo and THS racing pipes will fit right in. They are using spring instead of screws to hold it. I think that will help the breaking header issue a little.

Another way that you can fix it is Mugen Wing Stay. After that no more worries :)

I finally installed it after broke 2 headers in a row. Sad .. but lesson learned.

My Jeep, whats a wing stay?
Basically a 1/8 wing.

Mine cracked at the weld, where the pipe meets the base that screws to the engine. I figured it was a combo of cheap metal, heat cycling and cleaning and not getting all the simple green off. I run a wing and have all season and it wouldn't have mattered with mine. The pipe or header had not been hit nor beant it just cracked.

might be a littly off topic, but how durable is that wing. i think it would great with my crowd pleazer and might help stop my truck from flipping backwards. how expensive and how hard is it to put on?

The wing will be added protection for the cooling head and pipe. It also great as a wheelie bar :D

It will cost around 30 - 40 bucks. The Wing stay will last a long time, you might need to change just the wing if it crack. However, you can boil it to prevent it from cracking. I would say it is pretty easy mod. It will be done in less than 30 min.

thanks for all the help guys, i think i might get the wing just for the looks and the wheelie bar. is there a kit with everything i need, or do i have to make it fit. and does anyone have any closer pics without a body on.

Use the GS Storm wing and wing stay, it will cost you about $20 total. If I can get around to it, I'll post pics of mine.

yeah... i never thought i'd put a wing on my truck... i can see myself in the near future putting one on though. can you give links to stuff from tower that i would need to purchase? installing I'm sure i can figure out.

thanks jet, jeep, or S7 =)

The wing comes in various colors, I believe the white will dye if you want. I removed the rear bumper and assembled the wing mount. I drilled up the wing mounting holes on the rear body mount assembly as high as possible. I run a Crowd Pleazer 2 and in about it highest position, the wing will sit about level with the bed. You can then do the body mount mod from Traxxas which, IMO, looks 100% better with the CP2 body. What you do is simple. Take a look at your roll bar, at the bottom you will see two lines on either side. Unscrew it, cut it at the first line from the bottom and lower your body mounts one hole. Or cut to the second line and you go lower it two holes. I went for two and to say it looks better is an understatement. Doing that mod also allows for more height off the body. Like I said, if I get around to it I'll take some pics and throw em up here. HTH

Dawg,

Here is the link to guide you how to put the wing on Revo. The link was posted here while ago by a member here.

thanks for the ling myjeep. i think i am going to put one on. i just had the hobby shop order me a new crowd pleazer, so i might as well do the wing now and get a pic of it.

p.s. i won a new stock revo pipe and header on e-bay for $15, should have gotten a aftermarket one but i figured this was cheap, so i'll give the stockie one more chance.
