I'm ln my sixth tank breaking in the picco 28 (has incredible power, I really need the road rage for the street because the dirt bonz are uncontrollable at high speed on the street) and I'm now doing some WOT passes and I'm a little concerned with the temp. I haven't adjusted any of the factory settings, not even the idle since I get no creeping and the temp is hitting 270 278 range with a half tank after a few WOT passes. Sounds good and a nice stream of smoke (actually more smoke than the 3.3) Is that an acceptable temp range for Abigail block?

That's about the upper limit I'd like on temp for an engine that fresh. You really don't have enough fuel through it yet for too much WOT. I'd be careful for several more tanks.

I would start richening the hsn to keep that temp in check, the break-in process should be kept to about 200-220 degrees. You've got 6 tanks so 240-250 would be ok.
You almost always have to change needle settings on a new engine.
