break in ?

Hey everyone I've run 3 tank's through and my truck sputters a little when you take off really slow and there's a lot of oily stuff on the side with the exhaust. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

It's supposed to be that way for break-in. It's doing this because your needle settings are set super rich (which is good @ break-in). Once your break-in is complete you will lean out your high and low speed needles and this will stop happening.

this is normal for engine break in. Once you complete your break in process you can lean them out to get better performance.

Probably because it running rich. They are set rich from factory for break-in. You could probably start tuning it If you already have a few tanks through it, I would anyway, but I'm not always 100% right on everything.

Thanks that make me feel better. How many tanks do you think I should run through it before leaning it out and How do I do that?

Yeah run a few more tanks, take it easy. Then u can start tuning for performance. I highly recommend reading a tuning guide, you can find them on this site, I'd post a link but am using my phone. It's also helpful to have a temp gun to keep an eye on your motor temps so it dosent overheat.
