My first rc was a 10th scale traxxas rustler I bought from a friend for $20.00. After stripped gears and shattered yokes i bought a new one. Upgraded motor to Velineon 3500 brushless and last week I bought a 5th scale exceed rc Hanibal monster truck. It's a 2 stroke 30cc gaser. The break in instructions say to keep it under 5000 RPM for the 1st 8 hours and there is no mention of temperature. I live in Wisconsin and the temp here is around freezing. Can I still rip it up and break it in and not ruin the engine? Thanks.

I broke in my Baja in winter. I added a little more fuel to compensate for the cold temps and fired her up. Took it easy on the first tank stopping after about half tank and letting the motor cool. I did let the RPM get pretty high but i made sure not to hold WOT. I would roll in and out of it. On the second tank i let it fly. It has been running strong since.

To comment on the directions i dont see how its possible to keep it under 5k. Unless that thing has a 4000 RPM clutch the truck would never move.

winter break in

How cold would you say it was? What ratio of fuel to oil did you use? What ratio does hpi recomend?

thanks

I think I will wait a while tho...we just got a wind chill advisory of -20 to -30 here in central wisconsin for 2/8/11.:whhooo:
