I have just perchused a wasp .28 engine waiting for it to come in and i want to be ready to break it in....so could you please list what i should to first step by step
Thanks alot this site is the best!

There will be instructions with your engine. You can either follow those or do the heat cycle method. I have never done this so someone else can probably explain it better.

I highly suggest breaking it in within a buggy. I broke mine in w/ a starter box and Kanai, The pullstarts for these engines are crap.

I have a savage 25 and I'm putting roto start on it soo...
yeh some1 told me that it takes 4 tanks to do it.

I also broke in my Wasp in a buggy. When the wasp is new it will have extremely high compression. My engine didn't even start once before the pull starter crapped out on me. Now I use roto start, in order to use the roto start on the wasp you will need the one way bearing that is used on the HPI BB engines. That is the size that will fit, keep a few extras on hand as this engine can kill these things.

The Wasp has very high compression, the first few times you start it you should warm up the block with a hair dryer, this will make it much easier to start. Other than that there will be step by step instructions with your engine telling how to break it in and tune your engine.

I would loosen the glow plug just a bit while trying to start it, if you thought you were going to break the pull start. Then tighten it back up after getting it running. I have to do that to my 24/7 sometimes.

You should always do this

I was told to never loosen the glow plug on a turbo head to start it. Any idea why or just an RC myth?

Don't see why it would hurt. If ya have an engine with a lot of compression, it will save your pullstart, rotostart, or one-way bearing. Whichever goes first. Also if ya get the engine a little wet, you may mess up something else?

I don't see why it would hurt anything either, but thats what I was told. My pullstarter died before the engine started once. I pulled the string through the plastic wheel in there. I ended up using a plug in drill to get it started.

Why would the engine be wet?

I would imagine that the reason for not loosening up the glow plug is the chance of damaging the threads. With the hot gases going past it and the vibration of the plug before you get a chance to tighten it could possibly shorten the life of the head button threads dramatically.

Yes it will. That it was I use on my wasp. You just have to use the one-way from your savage engine. The Wasp's is too big.

No problem, if you have any problems let us know and we'll help you out as best we can :)
