Whats the difference between the stock 3 shoe clutch and the hot bodies 2 shoe clutch?
Is there any difference in performance or wear/durability???

One the 3 shoe clutch has more contact givving the Savage a more aggressive launch. If you apply that and aluminum shoes its amazing. Wear, well depending if you have your slipper set differnt, like to tight or too loose you can wear the shoes down or the clutchbell.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the .21 Savage came with the 2 shoe clutch, 3 shoe was an upgrade after the .25 came out.

PiErow, is the the clutch you are talking about? http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/149596.asp XTM is the only one I have seen. I have one on my buggy, but haven't heard of anybody trying it on the Savage yet.
 
what does a sliding clutch do?
Is it better to have a 3 shoe stock clutch or the 2 shoe aluminum?
Do i also need to replace the springs?
 
I would think you would be better off with the 3 shoe clutch. More surface contact on the clutchbell.

The slider clutch supposedly has more contact and grabs harder than the 3 shoe. All of the clutches work on centrifical force. Like when the clothes end up on the side of the tub after spinning out. (Sorry, that is the only way I could think of to explain it.)
The slider has more mass, so I would think it would grab harder. Plus it is not on a pin. It is sliding on the grooves on the flywheel. The 3 shoe would be contacting on the ends of the shoes. The slider is contacting all around. I looked and looked at the slider and couldn't figure out how it worked till I bought one. Pretty simple after ya see it.

Do a search and read up on it. I like mine on my X-term. May put one on my Savage. Good thing about these forums... Ya can see what works, because someone else has spent the money to try it. Everyone is glad to help ya. Even if they are going to race against ya next weekend. :cheers:
