Man do these things hurt and for how long, I just got them yesterday and they hurt like crazy, tylonel and advil ya right they dont do a thing to help the pain. first it was those stuoid seperators that serperated my teeth, and now its the actual braces....OOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!! How lomg will this pain last I could barely stand it any more, well alteast they are clear so you have to be real close to see if I have them.

Mine hurt for the first week non-stop, had to cut up all my food for close to 2 months, the front teeth were the worst. They usually hurt for a day or 2 once you get them tightened.
I didn't even want to eat for the first 2 days because they hurt sooooo much.
You'll get over it though...how long do you have to have yours on? I got 6 months left on mine, and have had them on for 7 months, so I'm just a little over a year total.



BTW, I gotta agree with eddy there, andrew...
 
They hurt for like a week after you get them tightened everytime.... I had braces for like 5 years lol they SUCK. Got em off in 7th grade though :D
 
I feel your pain kid!!!

The pain isn't in my mouth though......it's my rectum.....I'm currently paying for two sets and the Ortho didn't have any KY left!!!!

yeh they hurt for about a week or so. when i first got mine it hurt non-stop for a good while. iv'e had mine for 6 yrs. going on 7. of course my doc is about 5 yrs behind acording to the other orthos.

well I got them yesterday... and I'm only gonna have them for 2 years and I'm 15 so ill have them off before my senior year, I just hope the pain goes away soon.
 
mine didnt hurt at all, i believe right after i got them on i went to mcdonalds. the spacers and when they tighten them hurts though.

the spacers did not hurt or the actual braces, cus wen I had those spacers on those hurt even more then the actual braces, , now I still have this pain and I wanna eat some REAL FOOD!!!

Yea, mine didn't for the first day, but after that....all hell broke loose. I was even able to eat pizza w/o cutting it right after I got them with just a little pain.

so how many days were you in pain just one!!
 
If I remember correctly mine hurt for only 1-2 days then only for a day or so each time I got them tightened.

At the time I got mine I was told I should only need them for about 2 years. I went in every month to have the rubber bands changed and repositioned, wires tightened and tweeked, and the top plate contracted. 5 years later (and about a month before graduating High school) the doc said I would need another year or so. I went to 2 other orthos and they said the same thing. Since I was 18 already I signed to have them removed. I couldnt imagine going into college with braces and now looking back it was very stupid of me to feel that way. My teeth have regressed a bit but they arent that bad.

I've thought about getting them again to finish the job but was told due to my age it would take 3-4 years of INTENSE manipulation. So I live with some off center bottom teeth.

Moral of the story, yes they hurt, they are a major Pain in the ***. If your girl or guy, or potential girl or guy, has an issue with them then tell them to get lost cause the straight teeth you will have later on in life will make it a bit easier to find the next fish in the sea. Deal with it now, tough it out, you'll be better for it in the end.
