Maybe I should explain a little better,,, this is my first RC car much less a nitro burning 4x4. So I can't wait to get started and have some fun and tear up the country side. I have a good friend who has been doing the nitro thing for years and since has moved away from cars to airplanes but he said he would teach me the ropes and get me pointed in the right direction...

How are these things in the packed snow or shallow snow?? I was looking in a few catalogs and saw they have turbos and superchargers,,,, are they something that cause more problems than they are worth or do they make some power....

Can't wait to get it going
Jim

forget the turbo and super chargers... get a bigger engine. OS 18TM or the RB TM323 are the main drop ins. i personally am going with the RB, but do some research on both.

welcome to the boards =)

If you want more power, stay away from the superchargers and all that claim they add power... Go with a sirio or RB .23. Tons and tons of power!!! The revo is a great choice for anyone. With snow, you should water proof your electronics and such (use the search and you will find a great deal there). Look into some paddles for that thing. Paddles and snow equal lots of fun!!!

Turbo and superchargers, NOS and the like are all like throwing money down the drain. They just don't work on 2 cycles. The performance shown by testing in some magazines is sooooooo miniscule you'd need a 200x microscope to see it. Take the money and put it into the mill as in the OS 18TM or the RB. There's been plenty of discussion on water-proofing, use the search and type in plasti-dip or form of it. Also buy a bag of balloons for $.99 and you get about 20 great receiver bags. Problem I ran into with running in winter/snow is engine temps, they are so low it just wasn't much fun. You really need to wrap the head and do a few other things so the engine temp will come up enough so the damn thing will even run somewhat normal. Welcome and enjoy your stay

Thanks for the responce. I kinda had that idea in the back of my mind that that stuff doesn't really work that well... I like the bigger engine idea but first I think I will get comfortable with what I have and learn how to tune and optimize what i have. I will have to do my research and look into keeping the head at temperature as well as the waterproofing the electronics....Thanks for the help... I have a lot learning to do....

You are right, its best to learn to drive on the stock engine. Once you get good control of the truck and feel comfortable driving it then its time to upgrade engines if you want.

I will be getting a Revo soon but I have experience with nitros so I am gunna upgrade as soon as funds allow haha. Good luck with your Revo and welcome to RCNT! Questions? Just ask. There are tons of people on here with Revos and I will be one soon.

Yeah, not to beat a dead mule, but run the stock mil until you get used to it or it just up and dies on you. May want to consider putting some Proline 40 wheels/tires (the Bowtie tires are good) and P2 rockers with the aluminum pushrods. After I put them on, I found my rig didn't tend to want to rollover as quickly. You'll have to get the adapters to take the wheels, but they're worth it (in my humble opinion).

As for the snow, in addition to the excellent advice about waterproofing your radio gear and wrapping the head, somewhere on this forum is a link for skies that bolt right onto the Revo. I personally haven't tried them, but they sure looked pretty cool! What I do know is that you'll need to remove center drivetrain to the front wheels if you use them. I may give 'em a whirl this winter!

Good luck with the Revo! I know you'll enjoy it!

I am pretty excited to get going,,,,,,When the drag race season ends here in october I am going to get on this nitro RC car having a good time and relaxing.....Thanks again for all the response I am sure I will be on here alot with hopefully good questions...
