Does boiling affect the chrome finish on wheels? I need to remove a GT2 tyre from one of my Savage X 4.6 black chrome Warlock wheels & don't want to damage it..

No it won't damage the wheel paint. It does stink a little bit but nothing that will linger for days on end. You run the chance of scalding yourself by boiling them because the foams soak up hot boiling water. Which will spill out everywhere when go to remove the tires.

Boiling will damage the wheels finish. Baking in an oven at 350 for about 10 min is much better. I pre heat to 400 turn off the oven and put wheels on aluminum foil until the oven cools down, at that point the tires should fall off.

I heard acetone is good, but it will tear up the finish

I disagree and agree on baking. I baked some Axial 2.2s to get weights inside and when they came out they had a funky design on them, they were not ruined or ugly but gave it a rainbowish hue with micro wood grain look. Use caution and dont overbake them.

Acetone works best for getting tires off rims however some chrome finishes can't take acetone as it softens the chrome and wipes off
