What do you guy do with the bodies to your trucks and cars? Isn't it a pain to take them off everytime you need to start it up or tune the carb? How do you guys deal with it? Cut huge holes out of the body? Just leave it off (not for me)? Dont have to take it off cept to add gas?

i dont know about everyone else but i juststart it and tune it with the body off then put it on for the rest of the day. There is a window cut on the side so i can start it with the body on if it stalls

sometimes I run with it off....then after I get it all tuned sweet, I'll put the body on. It's not too hard to get the body on and off for occasional restarts and refueling.

i start it tune it and then leave body on really nice if it has electric start and i will usually cut out a spot window or such so i can refuel with the body on

Initial fueling and startup with out body on after a couple spins to make sure that everything is ok. I drop on the sheel and I have acces to do everything else through cut outs... Since your truck resembels a GT some what I would cut out the window on the side where the tank is and possibly around the engine depending on how its done already. Most GT bodies for AE and TL have the whole rear open between back of roof and the shock towers... Not sure on your ride. Can you get us some pics of it with and with out the lid on top down preferably along with side shots...X

cool ^ but ya i get my tuned and then i put the body on

i have the usual fueling & cooling holes cut in my 1/8 shell, with 2 small holes to get at the high & low needles (i use a starter box, so...). i bend the side of the body up if i need to access the idle speed screw (rarely). unless my mixtures are way off, i start, fuel, & fine tune with the shell on, easy enough. since the body increases my temps by 20-30F, i think this method is also a bit safer.

I tune the engine with body off, but I have a hole for everything else that is needed...

Like everyone said, when you get a good feel for tuning, you will only have the lid off for a couple minutes to do the initial tuning.
Your truck is still being broken in, there for you will have irregular temps still. You will see consistancy, once your truck is well broken in, and you have been running in relative temps, you will only have to adjust settings sparingly.

Believe it or not there are some people who actually prefer to run their RCs topless (I'm talking about without the shell for those pervs in the audience).

Me, I like the added protection of the shell (keeps the mud out :D ). I start mine up get it running then put the shell on. I take it off for refueling and restarting post refueling. If it stalls midway through a tank, I have access to the engine for the glo-ignitor and to yank the pull start.

As for tuning, I'm like most everyone else here. Tune it topless then add the shell.

Happy motoring!

Ask my roommate about a hsn broken off at the carb so that he had to buy a new carb to fix his 5 minutes of running in a parking lot without a body on his t-maxx. He learned the hard way that the body was put on the chassis for a reason!!!

Yeah I can do that. Put that digital camera at home to some use. I just finished breakin tank 5 with the body off so it's a wee bit dusty. :D

The pull start and gas tank are close to the window so I could cut that out. I may put some gas line around the window opening to protect the rip cord (read that someplace).

Trying to think where on the body the engine falls. I think it's someplace under where the roll bars meet the roof. The pics will show for sure. I'd much rather have some expert advice before I start slicing.

Not you KoRnKiD he hit a basketball Hoop a WOT in the park we were bashing at....

What did you hit that with???? Maxx, Savage, Jeep, Head, Other Head????? :naughty:

I hit the indurtrial standing floor fan that was attached to the base by a 3" diameter pole at full throttle. The fan was the only thing in my yard at work within a mile and I hit the stupid thing. The accident was pretty cool seeing my t-maxx go one way and the right front wheel go the other way.
