hey guys, i was just wondering if anybody on this site likes to ride bmx. like street, vert, or just dirt jumping? i like to ride street alot and then i have done some racin. right now i have a mongoose californian (the best mongoose made, not the cheap wally world ones) magnesium forks, snafu neck, torker cranks, and a tight leapord print cheata nut pad.

Right now i have a Hyper Lucas Porzio Signature bike..Its a nice bike.It came with 14mm chromo axles,gyro,3 peice crank and built in chain tensors..Its a smooth bike.

Yup! I just recently decided Needed to start riding again. I've been kind of sedintary for the last few years. Actually cleaned my chain tonight, and finally dialed in my chain alignment. I'm gonna stop using dry lubes, they should call that stuff chain glue. >:(

I never could do much on a bike, so I mostly just tool around on mine. Still enjoy riding it.

Got a '99 Supercross chromoly frameset. Last year with the original dropouts, and it doesn't have the butchered rear end the new Devos have. Got a bunch of parts on it that aren't made anymore. Including DK bars with 8 inches of rise, and an old Redline cold forged Flight stem. It was really weird switching over to this bike from my old one.

Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

I paid $260 for a Redline RL440 in '95. I haven't looked at the complete bikes much at Dan's Comp, but I think you can get something nicer than my old Redline for about that price these days.

If you start going high end everything, you can easily shell out over $1000.

Don't know what those Mongoose bikes Wal-Mart sells go for, but if the frame fits you, it might not be a bad way to see if it's for you. You can always do what I did: Start getting nice parts for a crappy bike, then eventually replace the cheap frame and forks with a good quality frameset.

Just make sure the front of the bike long enough for you, or it'll feel really cramped when you stand up to pedal. Kicking the handle bars out a mile in front of the bike is not a good way to go.

I had no intent on riding, I'm too old for that now. I was merely curious how much a bike ran from the top of the line to the garage sale special (which I already knew the price on those babies).

my frame is worth over $600 by its self. yes it is a mongoose which now since they have been making these cheap k-mart and wally world bikes have not made any good frames for ever. and i am very fortunate to have one of the few californians that were made. my bike right now is worth probably $1000

Ain't no such thing as too old to ride. Harry Leary is about 41, and is riding Vet Pro. When he first came back to riding seven or eight years ago, he went from Vet Cruiser to AA Pro, and competed on the same level (or higher) as kids half his age.

SuperMaxx97, you're very lucky to have that frameset. I've heard that the same company also owns the GT brands, and Schwinn. SE Racing has suffered a similar fate with another company.

It's kinda weird. When I was a kid, GTs, and Mongooses (Mongeese?) were the sweet bikes, and Huffy made the cheap junk.

The same company that owns Pacifice bikes (toys r us brand) now owns schwinn, GT, and mongoose. I remember back in the day the bike to have was the GT Vertigo. I'm gonna get into flatland though I'm going to get the Hoffman or eastern Chromosome, wih a fixed gear hub for the extra advantage. Fixed gear hubs are the worst for cruising though you get so damn tired cuz you gotta keep pedaling.

I used to love racin and jumping on my Bmx. I used to have an 86' model hot blue with white mags GT performer with the gyro and pegs. Back then it cost $360.

i am plannin on selling this bike for like $500 somewhere, and getting either the Poverty G-Ride or the S&M dirtbike classic. i am trying to ride more street and dirt now rather than racing. if anybody is interested in my bike e-mail me at [email protected]

TOTAL HELL broke loose!!!  i am so pissed right now, it broke 8 spokes and fiddlesticked my rim up too hell.

My bro and his friend are sponcered by dans comp or something like that.. I dont know what kind of bikes they got.. ill ask him about it..

Dan's carries a few different brands of frames and full bikes. One of the best places on the web to get parts, but they don't seem to have quite the selection they used to.

Dude! Sucks about the wheel. I know loosing spokes will pull the wheel all out of true. Wonder what a bike shop would charge to fix that, assuming they don't try to sell you all new wheels. If the rim wall isn't fried, it something I could fix in less than hour. (I've laced wheels a few times) Would take a while to retrue it, though.

Hope you can get it fixed.

i aint going to even bother with a bike shop, i am going hit dans comp up on some new alex trple walls.
