I just put in a new OS 8 plug I got from my LHS. When I tried to reconnect my blue wire the top of the OS plug was too fat. Did the HS guy sell me a wrong plug? Can I file or sand the pulg top to make it fit?

Thanks

I wouldnt screw with the plug. However, take the plug out (makes it easier to size out) and open the end of the blue wire up a little bit. You can use a jewlers screwdriver or something along those lines. Once you get it open enough, put it on the plug and pich it with some needle nose. Pinch it enough to make it snug. Then you should be all set. Then pull the wire back off, install the plug and go.

Not all plugs will have the same nipple. OS plugs are good ones to use. Should prove better than the Traxxas plugs which I personally think SUCK! But thats me.

If you are running either the Pro .15 or the 2.5, then the LHS guy sold you the wrong plug. Traxxas engines call for a long plug. O.S. plugs are short plugs. The OS plug will still work, but the compression will be reduced, and mostly likely won't run as good. From the factory the Pro .15 uses Traxxas plug #3230 and the 2.5 uses #3231. If you specify which engine, % nitro fuel you are running, and the outside temperature then it will be easier to suggest the appropriate plug.

Someone didn't read the thread...he has a fine plug. The issue is not plug fit, but EZ Start blue wire fit to the plug. Christian already gave him the best answer.

The truck is a 2.5, 20% nitro, and the temp outside has just warmed up to -15C. My old plug was a Mc Coy, it wasn't too bad but HS guy told me the OS would work better. I'm probably going to try Christians idea but if I notice lowered performance I am going to find a new plug. (Traxxas plugs are nowhere to be found locally.) Maybe the Mc Coy again?

Both OS and McCOy plugs will do fine. I'll be surprised if you notice any major difference in performance from one to the other.

I ran both McCoy plugs and OS plugs in my TRX Pro .15 prior to getting a Fantom, and I noticed nothing different in the engine's performance.

Thanks guys.

P.S. Sky, I saw the private property video. Good stuff. I need to find a dirt wave like that to ride on! Too bad you didn't record the lady in the truck freaking out, It could be a funny RC reality TV or something. People are funny sometimes.

after all it was only a VACANT dirt lot!

LOL...glad you liked the video. We also had the same thought about taping the lady, but she was so freakish in her behavior that we honestly just wanted to get the heck out of there.

Both the OS and McCoys are good plugs, and both will work. The 2.5 was designed to run a long plug like the McCoys. You might try the MC-59(hot) or the MC-8(medium), and see which works best for you. Plus, the McCoys are usually cheaper than the OS plugs. Chances are, the LHS guy sold you the OS plug because they are some of the most expensive plugs.
