Hi, I have been running my savage x the last few days and everytime i run it i blow a glowplug. Its got an axial .28 and I'm running byrons gen2 fuel, and i got o-donnell sport plugs, what causes this? Thanks

Are they blowing as in the center coils is damaged/gone? Usually that's from being too lean. What nitro % is your fuel, what exact plug are you using and how much total fuel through your engine?

If the engine isn't running lean, chances are the rod and bearings are worn out, I would tear it down and check before they let go. On average it's a good idea to change them out at the 3-4 gallon mark, for each gallon burned the engine spins roughly 3,000,000 times so at 4 gallons that's about 12,000,000 revolutions "on a bushing" lol.

Well running lean or what I mentioned will take out glow plugs, I have seen bearings and rods let go with under a gallon of use, it may be worth checking just to be safe, unless you figure it's the tune, click my banner for a tuning guide that has helped hundreds of people get their engines tuned up, you shouldn't be popping plugs if you follow the guide.

I just read your first post again, I have seen many ball retainers fail on the axial engines, I would pull the back plate and check the bearing before you fire it up again. Lots of people have pulled the back plate and caught the issue before it tears up the engine. I personally will not mod them unless a bearing upgrade is agreed upon, these are what I use.

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking its the tune, would holding it wide open for a long way mess anything up. I will take a look at that bearing. Thanks

Sustained high RPM's aren't good, just like anything, you don't want to be running at or near red-line for any length of time. It's even harder on the bigger displacement engines (above .21) due to the fact that the bigger they are, the more they suffer from balancing issues and high RPM's intensify this.
