They look killer in black, but HPIguy is right, they won't last. I'd soak them in some acetone and if the plastic isn't black, dye them black. I personally have used the oven cleaner and acetone methods, but never with a mounted tire. I have been told the acetone will desolve the superglue to seperate the wheel from the tire, but I'm not sure how it will effect the foam inserts.
 
Yep it paint and i figured it wont last long. But, the most expirience i have in my working life besides truck driving is auto paint and minor body repair for several professional shops. By stating that you should know that i sanded every bit of the chrome coating off these wheels down to the unfinished plastic and used krylon fusion paint witch bonds with plAstic. So it may actually last longer than you think due to proper preping. And if it doesn't, these wheels looked like poop before from the chrome peeling in spots and scratches from hitting stuff. And i have an extra set with nobby tread to swap between the two vehicles. If the fusion paint holds up like it should i will let you all know.
 
ya i did all the steps u stated and used white fusion. Lasted about 2 tanks before it was chipped up. i did how ever clear over one of them and it did last longer.
 
Try prep cleaning them with alcohol before you spay them. I ran 2 tanks through it with the 3.3 before it broke a rod and now same revo did a five tank breakin and after 3 more tanks so far bashing the hell outta the new engine and not one scratch on the black painted wheels yet! I also put 3 to 4 coats on each wheel. Light coats on 3 then heavy on last. No clear i wanted em flat black

Hell I'm gonna paint my other set too. Just havnt got around to stipping the chrome yet may just sand em good and prep well and hope it sticks like the first ones. I hate chrome wheels for some reason I've always thought black looks better.
