Went out to the track last night. It started raining and of course I didn't pack up right away. When I tried to use the EZ start to fire up my T-Maxx 2.5, nothing happened. Both lights on the EZ starter lit up, but nothing else was happening. All the steering and speed servos were still working. Is it possible that I shorted out the EZ start motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Is the battery charged on the EZ Start wand?
 
Can you turn the motor over or move the flywheel any by hand? If you can wiggle it a little, the problems' at least not the engine.
 
Yes I can turn the flywheel, that was one of the first things I tried.
 
Yup glow plug is good. Also, I pulled the glow plug out and tried to turn the motor, and still nothing. Is it possible that water getting into the EZ start connector on the car could cause this problem.
 
Sounds like if anything, you roasted the little motor that is on the ez-start. Can you rotate the flywheel towards the spur, and see if it'll move, or if it is frozen/locked up?

I have ran electric motors under water with no problems so I don't think a little rain burnt the ez start motor...This doesn't mean it's not bunt but I don't think the rain caused the failure.

Double check all of the wires...especially the yellow one, if it's not grounded to the engine block it won't work.
 
I went out and bought a new motor. The guy at the hobby store told me that it was probably some rocks and mud that got into the motor a messed it up. He said there was more of a chance of that than water frying it. I will try and install tonight to see if that fixes it. Thanks for all the input.
 
I have had similiar experiences with my ez starts..........check ALL of the wires as stated above as this is usually the culprit.....right at the connector where the wand goes in is problematic.


I have also had the electric moter die mid start...the are cheaply built...so
I always keep a spare.

I wish someone would build a more robust set up in the aftermarket....everytime I cuss mine I think I should be using a roto start....something like the tiger drive.

Anyway best of luck and stick with it you will get it.
 
u shoodnt have bot a new engine i had the same problem and i had to rebuild my engine the piston was locked up and shredded u shood check that

Read the post... He bought a new motor (the ez-start one that has been being discussed in this thread). And please, use the provided spell check to check you posts. It is irritating to try to read I'm talk on a forum. This is RCNT, not RCU!

Anywho, I have had the EZ start motor go out once. It seemed one of the teeth on the gears fell off, and it got wedged in there, and fried the motor... Pull start from now on!!! :ninja:
