  1. Bashing
I just destroyed the front end of my buggy when jumped a ramp and got some big air time, my buggy did a nose dive right into the ground. How do I stop my buggy from nose diving during big jumps?

Blurp the throttle to bring the nose up, light tap on the brake to bring it down, just like riding a dirtbike

The wishbone brace snapped in two, which cause all of the suspension on the right side to come loose.

alright just blurp it, right?

Ya just a little blurp, no wide open gassing it, with a little practice it will be like second nature

When I jump my vehicles for "big air" (i.e. bashing), I typically hit the throttle right as I leave the ramp to put myself nose up....as it's easier to brake down than throttle up (as below).

If jumping on an off-road track it just depends on the jump because you have to consider length as well so it's much more tricky, but you'd be amazed at the control you can have of these vehicles in the air.

You should look at aluminum suspension blocks and/or a big, thick, nasty TBR bumper. Nose dives/head on collisions are the worst type of crash you can have. Where exactly did it break? That is the first I've ever heard of a suspension block breaking....usually the hinge pin gives first ripping the block from the bulkhead--but snapping in half is a good one. HPI/Hot Bodies has some of the worse suspension block designs in this hobby....IME. Do you have pics? I'm just saying because I've learned once you find a point of failure, unless it was a total freak accident....it will just happen again.

Thanks for the good info Nitro, I don't have any pics but what broke was the brace that connects the front of the a arms to the chassis. BTW AWSOME pic!!!

Okay, so using the pic below as a reference....it would be the top brace, correct? You can see here where mine held up, but the pin bent instead. Did yours break where the pins go in, or did it break in the middle...or?

If you have nose-dived multiple times without this happening then chalk it up to a freak accident--they happen. The reason the pin bent below is because they were not captured, causing the block to move....allowing the pin to bend. I replaced with some M2C threaded pins and captured them with nylon nuts - problem solved. But these 'braces' are just that. They cannot give, else it will wreak havoc.

How are the hinge pins? Were the bent at all? As noted, if it were me (and understand I'm a newbie at this) but I'd consider stronger material block. If one not available and it snapped near the pin, you can consider putting some washers around the pins or something to that affect. You just have to get creative....but keep jumping it! As things break just figure out WHY and mitigate. I know guys who have buggies and don't jump them which makes no sense to me. These things were designed to jump so just keep at it!

Yeah it was that piece in the front, it broke almost right in the middle. I don't know if the pins are bent cause I haven't taken it apart yet cause I'm waiting for the replacement part. I tried to see if HPI made a upgraded one for my buggy but all I found was the stock piece. And you're right bro I will keep jumping.

You have the Pulse...correct? Is this an upgrade? Unsure what stock is made of.

Other than this, is it pretty durable? I came real close to getting one back in the day.

Man THANKS dude! Where did you find that? The Pulse is pretty durable, when I first got it it kept throwing the rear dogbones but a little fuel tubing fixed that. Other than this latest issue I'm pretty happy with it, but I'm pretty new to the hobby and I can already see I'm gonna want something a little better. Any suggestions say around the $500 to $600 range?? I purchased a RustlerVXL for my son, that little thing is CRAZY, but I'm a nitro guy.

Yeah, it depends what you want to do (race/bash or both). If I remember, the Pulse was designed to be scalable in that it could easily be turned into a racer---but seemed that never panned out. Most racers just want a kit to throw their own stuff in.

If looking to primarily bash: I'd get an OFNA Hyper 7 TQ sport ($300). Immediately sell the engine and servos--could get you $100-150). Then throw a GOOD engine in it (OS, Werks, Nova, etc), which will go from $200-350). I run an OSXZ 25 in mine and it's stupid fast. The buggy is as durable as a lot of race kit. Doesn't have the handling of them but it is durable. It can be made to handle well. My son races a Losi and he feels our Hyper 7 handles just as good, but it requires some work..and it's quite heavy.

If looking to race/bash, Losi 2.0 RTR. As needed you can upgrade areas you see fit. I hope this helps.

If looking to race, I like Mugen. It's the most durable vehicle I've ever seen, although for all intents and purposes I hear Xray (my next buggy) can't be touched for durability.

Thanks for the info Nitro. I had been looking at the Losi for a little while, might go with that soon. I'm just into bashing now but eventually I want to try racing, I figure that's the best way to really learn the hobby.
