I have seen quite a few posts here on RCNT about witch servos seem to meet/exceed normal strength needs, but most were a bit out dated.

I am about to completly replace the entire radio systems of both my RC10GT and my Mammoth. I am not so worried abou the GT, but the Mammoth is going to need some serious Tourqe to turn the steering block. In your own opinion what servo would best mee thtis need and why?

Also, if you happen to have a good servo you might be willing to part with, this is somewhat of a WTB thread, feel free to PM me about it.

ImBroken,
Do you think this would be a good sterring servo to replace the 144oz. one that came with my Genesis LE 17+ lb. truck!

I want something in the 200-250oz range with atleast all steel gears(the one linked has ti. ones), but not break the bank, if ya know what i mean. I've never used this brands servos before..are they good quality?

Thanks,
Scott

I'd run from any Hitec servo for that price....
look at the JR 8611....I think it's now the 8600 servo....260oz @ 6V....about 100 even.....bulletproof......airtronics makes similar and KO propo too...I hear only good things about them but I've only used the JR servo for steering since I bought my first one.....I've never had issues w/ any of them

tweak. Depending on how much money you have, the ones imbroken said are great. if your on a bit of a budget, there is one called the hitec 645mg. It runs about $40. http://servocity.com/html/hs-645mg_ultra_torque.html I have heard its a great servo for the money. I think that will be the one I get for my savage soon.

hollarR/C, hitec IMO is a very good brand. I have seen a couple of their servos and they are great. Never had one break on me yet.

they are all kind of expensive. if I am gonna get a new servo, I am going to go all out and get the one that looks best, Price right now doesn't matter.

I've had Issues w/ Hitec Digitals...out of 4 I have the only one that didn't give me poop still.....the 9645 I think it is.......the analogs are great...never had issues w/ any of them......tweak check out the JR/airtronics/KP digital servos...if you want the best thaose are the ones to look at.....I personally recommend the JR since it was the first one to just drop right in and gave me no problems......if you don't set the EPA on it they don't get cooked immediately like the Hitecs do......not saying you won't need to set your EPA, just won't run the risk of cooking it instantly if they aren't perfect...

I love my airtronics 94358, its 200oz @ .1sec and its tough as nails. You might also want to look into the new hitec the titanium gear servo's not sure of their part numbers or stats but I do know that they are monsters!

333 oz of torque for the same price. Don't forget to get a good RX pack, high torque digital servos will use more power.

Tweak, this one would be plenty of turning power for your mammoth (price is good)...I have it on my Savage. Works great.

It should rock in your rc10. (I think it will fit, check on that one)

If you want to spend more you can. Some of those servos mentioned above are some badass bastards. Its up to you bro.

I've ran that in my maxx, and I have one in my revo. Great servo.

busted would that fit in his RC10 also? I'm not sure..i dont run smaller scales so not familiar with them.

should drop right in.....that's a great servo for the price....
I like something a bit faster for steering.......minimum 130oz @ .15sec for steering and 120oz @ .1sec for throttle are the specs I look for.....

It'll go. so will the 625mg. That would be faster.

Plad has the right info for the GT.
You have no need for all that torque and would benefit from the speed.

The only reason to go with a stronger slower servo would be to have matched sets on all your RCs so you can have extras if there is an issue with one.

My thoughts also....But for his mammoth it would be fine.

Other than stripping an internal gear once, I have never had issues with the Hitec Servos. The Hitec 645MG is a great steering servo for just about any of the MT's. If your on the heavier side, (15+lbs), I would recommend the 945MG..
I just ordered a set of those Hitec 400oz robot servos for my crawler..

Ok, but now that I am going o make the switch to the higher standard servos, what other modifications would be needed? I don't know if it just the tourqe out put on the Mammoth ones, but they are very sluggish, straining just to do the job. This kind of makes me think I am going to need a bigass battery pack and a better reciever. Wanna, I don't know the TX right off hand, but I am using the stock one, will it work withnewer, better servos?

No mods are needed.Your tx will be fine its plug and play.. You will how ever need to use a good hump or flat pack to power them 1200 mah will work but a good 2200 mah is better.
