I have one Revo now with a Picco 28 but thats power is only fun while bashing. once i get on the track it just spins and flys horrible. i was thinking about building another Revo to race. What r the best mods to do to a Revo for the track? Otherwise i was thinking about building a racing savage. what r the best mods for that. Also which would be better on cost and be the best racer? :second_place:

To get a Savage close to the level of Revo performance costs a lot. I spent tons on Savages for a long time. Going to do it again here shortly, I just traded a Muggy roller for a Savage roller. Can't wait! You would need to come up with a custom sway bar set-up as well.
The platinum revo is an excellent base to work from. I set my 3.3 Revo up pretty much like the platinum comes except for no center diff. I am always in the top 3 at my local tracks, that was running a 3.3 engine! I just got a os 21 tm, too new to say if it helps or not.

should i just buy the revo platinum then and work off that or find a chaep revo 3.3 on ebay to convert?

Save a few extra bucks and buy a truggy! I know from experice on trying to make a revo a sweet racer it takes alot of time and alot more money. But if it has to be a monster truck, get the platinum and upgrade a little at a time. Thats just my 2 cents.

the revo platinum is an excellent race truck, just needs a few small upgrades
but, i would buy a truggy for a racer, less time and money needed to make it drive well

If you want to race Monster Truck Class get the Revo Platinum for around $600 - 650.00 brand new you will not be able to build one better for less than double I bet.If you need a receiver / transmitter get a 2.4 gig setup starting around 200.00 for the Spektrum DX3.This will save you time and money though you will ned a Revo starter box but it will pay for itself in one waybearings eventually.Later on add some JR Z9100T/S servos and your done ($250) 600 + 200 + 250 = $1005.00 + starter box = $1,200.00 Total.
Even better Find a new Platinum roller and add pro line LPR bowties or crime fighters,I like these better than the Traxxas response, engine and pipe of choice OS .21 TM is a great one,and you have a winner!

or

Get a good truggy kit (Ofna Jammin),starter box, servos, tranmitter receiver for $1,000.00 or so.Oh and an engine + 275 = $1,275.00 total

well already have a dx3.0 in my bb Revo, so it would only be the cost of the buggy and another reciever, In the truggy what motor would be the best, i know my 28 revo just spins, but i dont know if a 21 motor would be fast enough. would a motor like the picco 26 have enough power. What would be the best engine for it.

You need to see what the rules are for the class that you'll be racing in. You wouldn't want to buy a .26 and then go to the track to find out that a .21 is the biggest that you can run in your class. I, however, think that the .26 is going to put you in about the same shape as the .28. One of the magazines did a comparison of a .21 against a bad ass .28 in a test a few months back. They ran both engines in the same buggy and recorded a lot of data on each motor. It turned out the .21 was much faster than the .28 because it was so much more controllable. I would think that something like the OS 21TM will provide you with plenty of power, but make sure that you can run that in your class at the track. I had a Savage and I love them, one of the best bashers out there. However, it's not for racing. Because it's so strong, it's also top heavy and can't handle worth anything compared to the Revo or a truggy. I'm with the other guys, go ahead and buy a truggy. I'm $1500 into my Revo race build and I'm still collecting parts, and have a good bit left to go. I wish I would have spent the money on a nice truggy kit.

wha r some the best truggy kits out there for the money

a truggy from losi
or something from ofna
what about the hellfire
thanks

Id say Mugen, Losi, Ofna. The hellfire is more aimed to people that just want to go to the track on ocasion and mess around. I have not seen a hellfire place or even race at my track.

The revo is a better racer than what? The Savage, losi, ofna, mugen, the hellfire.

The truggy seams easier to maintain and is easier to drive from what I am told.I have never driven one but am considering it just to get more racong in in one day (running two classes). They are also more durable. The monster truck class is a little more care free and a great place to start racing. You can also bash a monster all week and race on the weekend. We have about 15-20 monsters each week entered with the top 10 going to the A Main. There is probably 30-50 truggys with the top 10 going to the A Main.If I knew before hand how much I enjoy the racing and really not doing much bashing because of time restaints I would have gone with a truggy or buggy.

If you go with a truggy save up and get a good kit.You will not need to upgrade everthing and save alot of time and money in the end.Invest in good servos and a good solid kit.The engine would be where I would compromise if I had to.Control and durability are key.
