RC Driving Style
I just picked up a used revo (less than a gallon through it) and since I can't keep anything stock, which is the best/hottest set up for the Revo with no or little modification? I have a Pico .21 in my t-max will that fit in the Revo? the track I run on is a smaller oval with 1 table top and a couple of whoops. My t-max has more than enough pick up for this track. What do you suggest?

Just answered your own question and yes it will fit.

Most revo owners go with the stock 2.5r ,sirio .23 , rb 323 , or Os .18 tm or Tz.

Well...depends on your plans for the truck. Its the most powerful though. But who likes to be on their lid all day :shrug:

To many variables. No on can answer that question for any R/C car or truck.
 
If you want an easy to install engine that runs great in the Revo go with the OS .18TM...They drop right in and they run great...I love mine so far in my revo.
But if you dont mind doing a little work I'd get the OS .18TZ, that'll be my next engine I think....They scream in the Revo, all the power you need and there isnt that much to installing one really....Do a search on here or on www.traxxas.com forums for the username " airmaxx23 " he posted a great step by step on how to install the OS.18TZ in a Revo and all the parts you'll need to do it right.
 
the problem with speed and motors is everyone thinks horsepower means speed, it simply dosent... if the stock motor puts out 2.5hp at 40,000 rpm, and you get a speed of 50mph, then you put in a motor with 2.8hp at 37,000rpm, you will actually loose speed, maybe 45mph. (allthough you will have a MUCH faster 0-45)
 
I put in the RB TM 323 and love it. Easy to install and breaks in real easy. As to hitting the lid from too much power, it's called throttle control. You'll need to learn that if you race any nitro R/C.
 
My buddy (Mel*E*Mel) had that TZ in his Revo, and what a nightmare. I don't know if it was just that engine, or what, but it was deffinitly not the typical OS Engines I've seen. I think I would go with RB .23. That engine has controlable power, and runs like a champ. Or it your looking for something a bit more mellow, you could go for the Fantom FR .18. Its got ton's of power as well, but of course is more mild than the RB. All depending on what you want out of the truck.
 
I'm still debating wether or not to get a revo, if i do I'm going to get the .23 medium blocks (either the 323 or the sirio (they look exactly the same)) being as the statement "theres no replacement for displacement" is true, aside from turbo/super chargers & Nos.
 
Hey, Butter has a good point, don't always discount the medium blocks. That Fantom .18 is a great motor for the price. I love my RB, but I seriously considered the Fantom as well. Great, now I want to go to the LHS and pick up something, anything.
