in u guys opion whats the best motor for the revo

---------- Post added at 9:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:34 PM ----------

reason i ask is cause i want to upgrade from the 3.3 and going to the hobby shop on sat

Picco .26 max jl red dot. You will need the big block mount kit for the revo.

picco if you can get one (good luck, i think they make 20 a month or something at the rate i see them in stock) or LRP are good value.

I just joined the forum to lurk around for topics on upgrading my Revo engine. I've been leaning toward the Picco .26 myself. Will I be needing other mods besides the motor and motor mount kit? I'd hate to drop $200 on those only to find out I will need more stuff.

For example>> Exhaust, Carb, Driveline mods, ect....

I want more power of course, but I'm just a casual RC guy who doesn't need to go top $$ rebuilding everything. Not yet ;)

Thanks in advance

You will need a new engine mount - the Picco mount is around $20 and in my opinion is it not very good - best to get a era mount.

You can use your standard exhaust and bell clutch, but eventially you may wish to go a larger header and pipe, and put in a better clutch.

A few friends of mine also mentioned an OS21. What's the 2 cents on that setup?

The OS is a great engine and drops right in. A lot of racers swear by them.

Reddot, there are several brand new ones on ebay right now....

Streaker the OS mills have come a long way! Like stated above alot of racers do swear by them and most who have run them will agree that OS makes a better race mill than picco. But with that i also state that opinions are like elbows everyone has one. I have a Picco .26 max on a tmaxx and only 10 tanks run through it for now and its one impressive mill. I have guys in the rc club here that have the OS .21 on their jatos all modded out for drag racing and I'm very impressed with them as well and those guys swear by them for sure.

I'm already watching those those on eBay lol.

I've decided to go with the picco red dot. I'm going to call a few of the hobby shops around me to compare prices but should have one purchased by the end of the week.

Thanks for the info!

IMO 18tz. Plenty of power to throw the revo around, alot easier to tune than any picco, and less expensive. Outside of what the big oll picco will do to the revo if you beat on it pretty hard.

I bought the Picco .26 Max red dot last night and some motor mount. Not sure if it was an Era though?? I bought everything online, so now it's wait wait wait. :(

Do I also need an exhaust system? Is the 3.3 pipe n header compatable??

Revo is tore down n ready for its new transplant

You can use the stock pipe but it will choke the picco(Also run a greater risk of blowing seals). You can use a THS 146B rear exit pipe which will require an adapter from Racer66 on this forum(about $20). For the biggest power boost you will need to install a 086 side exhaust. I run the THS 146B and it is crazy fast...
(The Picco has a small block exhaust port, so for any true BB exhaust you will need this adapter. It works great)
