Hey guys, I've had my type ss since they first came out. I think most nitro enthusiasts would say that the first kit, and the first year, are always the hardest.

Anyways, I blew my 12R SS motor (fried the piston ring) and I really dont feel like replacing the parts and keeping my engine, so I'm buying a new one.

What's the best engine to get for under $175 (maybe a little over, i'm trying to save money for misc hop ups too though).

I already have a racing clutch, air filter, the newbie hop up items, I'm more interested in CVD's, shocks, springs, and stuff (I need suspension upgrades BAD!), I just don't know what to get or where to look because it's been so long since I lasted tinkered with my car.

Speaking of misc hop ups, what's a good investment, I'm looking to spend around $300 total on getting my car all fixed up and runnin purty.

Mmmmm purty hopped up nitro hunk of metal love.

:sorry:alright, so i dont expect much response on such a newbie-fied question, so i did a little research and called my 3 LHS's, they all suggested an OS .15, only one of them had one. I'm going to have to upgrade my flywheel and engine mounts, what's the best flywheel? saw the CV-RX on towerhobbies, and i need to know if I'm going to have to do any other mods besides engine mount and flywheel.

What do I need to do with my suspension to get my car to handle well with a bigger motor, that's where I need the true help.

I dont know much about the SS, but the OS .15 CVX or CVRX are great mills. Lots O Power.... & very easy to tune.... Good luck

i could be wrong but I was told that the .15 motors are more torque but less mph and the .12 motors are less torque and higher mph.. I put a .15 CV-R motor on my SNR and it was waaay better than the .15FE.. I'm happy with my 12ss motor in the 3ss

only hop ups I put on my SS that I thought was a good investment was aluminum shock towers and arms front and rear.. that's about it.. spent like $ 40 total on it from itamiya on ebay.. he is from hong kong china and i got it in about a week.. pretty fast to me

typex - welcome to RCNT! The OS engines are legendary for reliability and power. If you are not racing pro, then go with the OS .15CV-R - it has unbelievable power, and is a breeze to start and tune. It is offered in many configurations, and will be a direct fit in your HPI. If possible, go with the Slide Carb, much more punch off the line, and u can do the minimal linkage mods in about 30 minutes.

okay, so i just got the OS .15 CV-X and I'm doing all the prep work as we speak. I have one question, do I use the same flywheel from my .12RSS? Old buddy at my LHS told me since I have the motor mounts, my kit most likely came with the correct flywheel for the .15, but I'm finding it almost impossible to get the flywheel all the way on the shaft AND/OR my attempts at trying to remove the flywheel have been unsuccessful, the flywheel wont budge. Thanks for the help.
