i was wondering wat the best fuel was to use in a savage 25. right now I'm useing traxxas top fuel with 20% nitro. does anyone know wat the oil content in it is? i was wondering because its hard to see it smoke, and i have it running rich at 260 degrees

That's the right fuel to be using for sure. How far is the high speed needle turned from 0 degrees?

3 and a half turns out as in above flush or below flush. because that's a lot if it's below flush and sounds like way too lean. Well let me ask you if you have broken this engine in yet or is it brand new.

Personally, I've never been a real fan of Traxxas' fuel. My Savage (4.1 engine) just never seemed to run right on it.

I run Trinity Monster Brew in it now. It's 20% nitro and 12% oil. Rarely do I need to fiddle with the needles and it runs like a top!

I also run O'Donnell's 30% in my Revo, NTC3 and Hyper 7 with great results.

As to your question about oil content in Traxxas' fuel, not sure.

I bought one gallon of Traxxas fuel when I first started running the cars. I didn't care for it. Maybe it was me being a newbee, but I tinkered with my engine the whole gallon.

Next gallon of fuel was the monster brew and that is all I have bought since.

I'm thinking Traxxas was 16% oil???

Byron's race fuel 30% 8% oil..I get contestant temp and smooth running

byrons race 25% and tornado 25% MT and buggy fuel have worked for me and the carb settings for each are nearly identical

i also forgot to add that it does smoke at high speeds but at low speeds i don't see much smoke, how much smoke should i see? when ever i watch a video of someone elses i always see a ton of smoke from theres

here you can watch these two vids. I think they are both very helpful. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSmMzpZM_As"]YouTube - Nitro RC Tuning 1[/ame]. and watch the other one label nitro RC tuning 2.

I use O'Donnells 30% race blend in my Ninja. I will also be using it in my V-Spec, Sirio .27R and OS .30 when the time comes.

In my Revo with the stock 2.5R I use Top Fuel 20%. Mainly because I can find it anywhere. When the mill dies and I switch to the Sirio .18 with the turbo button, I will be using O'Donnells.

I just love the nice orange goo it produces.

I've run Traxxas 20%, Trinity MHP 20%, and now running Wildcat 16%. Yeah, that's correct, 16% Nitro, 14% oil. The truck loves it and the guys I run with can't believe it's only 16%. In my opinion though, it's really more about how well you can tune than which brand of fuel you choose.

I use Trinity Monster HorsePower 20%. Works great for what I do and like the rest of the guys have said, I dont fight the needles all the time. I've tried Traxxas 20% and hated it. Also run blue thunder 20%, not a bad fuel I don't guess but the trinity is way better.........

I can't say any of the fuels I've run have really been a problem. Just had to retune for each one. The MHP seemed to make my truck run a little hotter than I liked, but it ran really well with it. The main reason I bought it was because it was the least expensive in my LHS, and with a wife and kids ........... I switched to the Wildcat because they were closing it out and it was even cheaper, I got the last 2 gal. for $10 each. Don't know what I'll have to run when this runs out, probably go back to the MHP. Just pick one, tune it, and have fun!!!

can anyone recomend a cheap online source for the trinity monsterblend/horsepower? my LHS only carries traxxas and i think it is the cause of some of my starting issues/restarts. plus, with the higher oil content of traxxas, your sorta gettin shafted aren't ya? plus a bigger gooey mess.

anyway, if anyone has some recomondations of an online source for trinity fuel, i'd appreciate it. i'm paying about $28 a gal locally for 20% traxxas

Maybe someone can give you a line on some but I don't think so. You usually have to buy it by the case to get gallon size, then fuel is heavy so the shipping isn't cheap and then there is also usually a hazmat charge too. Tower sells it but it's $89.99/ 4 gal case + shipping.
I have a couple of friends that run Traxxas, they don't seem to have any problems with it. Use the right glow plug and good tunning and you should be fine with it. I understand not wanting to pay $28 a gal though. Good luck, and Merry Christmas to ALL!!

thanks racer...i've seen it in tower sold by the quart and what not, but i dont know y you'd only want a quart! if i have a good run day and nothing breaks and no batteries die out, i'll run all i can! hehe! maybe i'll try in the bigger cities near by, my town is only about 50k people, and very stuck in their ways...not much fun. let me know of any other tips for glow plugs and what not!

also...would running a higher nitro content compensate for the high oil percentage? i've seen alot of debate on this one...give me your opinion.

thanks a ton!
