I'm not sure which ones will work that keep the exhaust pointed to the rear.

i was thimking of aftermarket once i have the resenator that came with the 5308

They also sell a single chamber Resonator that gives your more torque.

"The Traxxas Resonator aluminum tuned pipe for Revo is specifically engineered to fit right in the chassis and compliment Revo’s TRX 2.5R and TRX 3.3 racing engine. It’s the ultimate Revo musclepipe! The single-chamber design dramatically increases bottom-end punch by nearly 20% between 10,000 and 15,000rpm, and continues to pull strong with a 10% increase from 15,000 to 30,000rpm. It’s perfect to provide that extra snap of acceleration off the line."

trinity or THS have great pipes for the revo that are rear exhaust

THS for rear, if you feel like going big, get a big block, and a JP3, and watch your revo fly!

i found the resonator to be the best all around pipe for the 3.3...i had one trinity, one rb logic, one dynamite platinum, and even a THS and the 44.95 cheap ass resonator works the best!!

How about an update?

So what did you wind up going with? I'm still using the factory resonator and was looking at mods down the road but after two other guys got used revos "all modded out" and found that mine is certainly not lacking anywhere, I decided to revert back to don't fix what ain't broke. besides, i'm one cheap S.O.B.

i ended up getting the trinity could not hardly get it to seal good at the exhaust port but now i got a picco .26 and I'm debating weather i want to put it on it or not

THS hardcoated pipe...makes great power all around and is very durable.

I have been looking over my exhaust, the traxxas resonator, as well as a few others we have over here to compare to. Unfortunately I don't remember what makes but to be quite honest there are very subtle differences. I've seen nearly identical exhausts make very different sound simply because of the material the pipe was made of or it's thickness but without swapping around, couldn't really compare the power difference between them.
There are things you can do to your stock exhaust to change your performance as well. I've seen other posts where the exhaust "nipple" was ever so slightly milled out to a larger exit hole to allow faster air flow. Keep in mind, this will also reduce back pressure and may sacrifice low end torque. A careful gear adjustment may make this unoticeable and also capitalize on the top end gains. We now have 3 identical 5308 model 3.3 revos here in iraq and now I'm considering drilling my exhaust out a tad just to see if it makes any difference. Before, it was pointless, but now that i have something to compare to makes it a worthwhile experiment.

It helps, I tried it on my stock pipe. I picked a drill bit that just barely did not fit into the stinger and drilled it out. Engine ran cooler and stronger.

Thank You for the feedback. Did you lose any noticeable bottom end?

For others thinking of doing the same, keep in mind to not over drill the hole to the point of weakening it. Drill to much and a small bump of the silicone extension could break it off or even crush from the zip tie.

Surprisingly no, and it was still pretty rigid. performance actually picked up on bottom and top. It did change the tune a bit, nothing drastic.

I appreciate the feedback scrogg. This has been something that is not only inexpensive but logically sound. Now to hope my fellow local revo owners stay the heck out of this posting. As it is right now...I just voice my excitment at showing a visible gain in performance with no visible mods. Sure, I'd tell them all eventually, but not without having some fun with it first.

1.. dunno bro, maybe your mill was made on a friday.
2.. Hmm...did you read the manual on how to tune?
3.. My rechargeable rcvr pack makes it lighter....don't worry, yours will too.
4.. maybe your carb has a bur on the inside.
5.. don't sweat it, my bearings are just worn in a little longer than yours.....
6.. It's that crap leftover from last year fuel your using
7.. What do you mean your surprised mine seems faster...look who's holding the other radio......ROTFL

anyway...you get point.
