RC Driving Style
ok well i was hitting the jumps today with the savage...and all of a udden i have to power...so we look at it and both chassis plates are bent up pretty bad, we used a tource, vice, and hammer and their pretty strait so i guess my questions are, do they have to be perfictly strait?do you think that they will be weaker now? and if i have to replace them do i go with the stock type plates or what else is there?
Thanks
James

Wow, the way HPI designed those chassis plates they are structurally stronger than that of the other flat style chassis. Some pics would be cool. To answer your question, any damage to the chassis, even slight damage, can upset the handling. You might have to compensate with camber, toe, etc. to get it close to what you had. Hardcore Racing offers Savage side chassis plates made of Titanium for $99. I have a Titanium chassis in my Storm and this thing is indestructable. Give it a look.

hahah well we took some pictures, it was pretty nasty on one side...ill post them when the guy with the camera can download them to a computer

The only other thing to consider would be that you check your drive shafts to make sure that they are straight too. If they are off-center too much, it can create stress on them.

i bent one of my chassis plates pretty bad. i didnt notice any performance difference but i noticed one of my center dogbones were kind of bent at the end. but like i said before, there was no big performance change. if the dogbones break or bend, ill just upgrade them then.

Yeah fresh pics of carnage would be hella good. I want fresh carnage. I would question the integrity of the metal at that point too. Once bent it will never be as strong as the original.

well the guy with the pictures got strep so ill do my best to persuade him to do something while hes out of school

I WILL POST THEM SOON... STREP SUCKS YALL. btw the metal retains its strength if u heat it up nice and gooey before you bend it back out.

here they are... sorry about the blurry one.
