I plan to start racing but confuse which is the best race car - a drive belt or a drive shaft?

This is an old debate and has been covered many times before.

As a begining racer, what you should be more concerned with is learning the dynamics of onroad touring; staying in the middle of the lane and driving a clean line; Going faster by tightening up your lines as your skills progress.

The differences between belt and shaft are there but are unnoticeable (for the most part) by the novice racer. Most of what you will initially see/feel at your beginning stage will be based on what you "think" instead of actual gains.

If you want a dedicated racer, it can cost you. In order of "possible expenses" from least to most .... NTC3 & Kyosho FW05RR; R40; Kyosho VoneRRR WCE, Mugen MTX-3 and Serpent 710(relatively equal); and Mugen MTX-4.

As I said, learn the TC first. As I have told many new racers (as I was told when I first started), start small. If you think you will learn more with the "best" from the begining you are wrong. Some things need to be learned in stages otherwise a world of frustration will accompany your highpriced discouragement.

The TC class is one of the most competative classes out there. No one will be a complete "natural" and spank the competition. It can be frustrating.

To win a race or do well, it's all about driving but behind that outcome is your setup. Most of our "problems" are about 3 feet above our asses and 6 inches infront of your chest. What we want our cars to do and what actually happens is our own fault.

As I said before, this topic has been covered many times. I have answered it before and it's an extensive answer. All I can say now, and don't take it the wrong way, is do a little research on this topic. I'm sure my name will come up a few times in your search.
