There are also shaft driven cars that come with a front one way.
electric talk here no slipping on the straightaway for shaft cars more torque also
I driven the belt system on other vechiles & felt some fade away power on high speed.
As for gas vechiles huge difference on vechile set up for shaft I preffer belt drive for racing. :smoke:
 
i used to have a belt car and drove it on a unprepared parking lot. i got metal pullies tensioners... anything and nothing saves belts from pebbles. i dont think i ever got a complete run out in that car.

from my knowlege of what I've heard people say in the past is that belts have less friction and less power is lost by the time it gets to the wheels.

unless you are racing on prepared shaft is the way to go
