I ran my savage 4.6 for about an hour in the sand last week - had a blast.

Now I'm cleaning it & I squirted some nitrocleaner by the bearing area near the wheel (the 2 B085s that are back to back).

Anyways, I don't think I should have done that as I think I cleaned the grease out of them.:\

are the bearings trashed, or can I press them out and get grease in them some how ?

& what kind of general grease is good to use for the cups ?

Thanks

I believe that they are a rubber sealed bearing. If they don't spin good get new ones, you can get a whole set on e-bay pretty cheap, or check your LHS.

I don't remember if they are sealed bearings or not but if they aren't, take your non-dominant hand and put the bearing there. Put some bearing grease and put it onto your thumb of your dominant hand and push that all into the bearing as hard as you can with your fingers. Clean it out of the inner race pf the bearing though.

After 6 hours of teardown / cleaning, re-assembling (this was my first time - 'm sure I'll get quicker) - I took the bearings out & the look sealed but i put grease on the bearing, and was able to pack it in there - there is a little breather hole (that's proabably why soaking them in mobile 1 works, but after doing the best I & could to repack, it rotated very smoothly.

I will pick up a couple next time I'm at the hobby shop - what's the scoop with the bearing upgrade kits, or shoud I just use the stock ones ?

Thanks !
