800 MHz or faster Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor
256 MB or more RAM
16x or faster CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
1.2 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games
64 MB or greater video card which supports Transform & Lighting
Environmental Audio™ capable sound card
And I assure you, you'd rather have more than "recommended"
I'm running an AMD Athlon 2800+ XP Barton core about 2.1 ghz
1 gig DDR400 SDRAM
Asus 52x cd drive
Radeon 9600SE vid card
Cable internet connection
Whoa!! jeese I got 6800 and I thought that was good. I just got a new Dell XPS 400 and it works great except our main internet cable is messed up so we are going to fix it soon. Sometimes it makes everything slow and makes lag and i HATE that. it needs to be fixed NOW.
If you want a radeon vid card that kicks ass at a decent price, go with a 9600XT 256 MB, it has 128 bit processing where as my 9600SE only has 64 bit processing. It makes a big difference, although, like I said, I'm very happy with mine, but only a few dollars difference in the 2 now.
Also, I built this system myself with gaming in mind, not all the frills of the standard systems available on the average market, but it can handle just about anything new that I throw at it graphics-wise, and It's about 2 years old now.
My computers specs are:
AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.8ghz
48x Cd-rom
768mb of DDR sdram
Radeon 9600XT 256 MB graphics card
DSL internet connection
Ya my computers pretty much a light weight compared to most gaming computers but it gets the job done.

You dont need gamespy, just get http://www.xfire.com/xf/index.php, its an instant message program like AIM but it tracks friends in servers so you can find what game they're playing and on what server. I used to play bf1942 alot mainly desert combat and forgotten hope mods. But I rarely play games anymore.
