My Savage 25 has about 1 1/2 gallons through it and has seem to hit the sweet spot. The power is better than ever and she just runs plain sweet. One thing I have noticed lately is that the rear tire seems to be ballooning during high speed runs. This is on short grass with good traction. Is this because I am running hotter or that the rubber characteristics are changing with age? It seems they should only balloon during lots of slippage - like on ice. My truck did see a lot of ice action during the last few storms - maybe I loosened something up?

Check to make sure you still have power to the front wheels. If the front diff is bad, or you are missing dog bones, it will send all the power to the rear wheels, possibly causing them to balloon up. When my rear diff self destructed, my fronts did the exact same thing.

Good point. I just checked and I have power to the front wheels. Is it possible that the power isn't getting there under full power? Should I hang the front tires on the ground and goose it a few times - making sure they dig in?

Ballooning wheels can also happen when they are not glued all the way to the rim. For instance you glue one side but not the other. The wheel has enough to stay on the rim, but the rotational speed pulls the non-glued side in as the tire balloons. You may want to check to make certain that the tire is secured to the rims on both beads.

Well At least you got that figured out i had the same problem with my buggy tires before and thats what it was............Nick
