I opened up my pipe and there was a plastic thing inside with 4 holes. Can I take this out so my pipe is hollow? Will this cause any problems?

If this is the old T-Maxx stock pipe, yes. Remove the baffle. It will most likely melt and screw up the performance of the pipe down the road.

If not, I believe you should still remove the baffle for the same reason.

Either way, once removed, you will need to retune your engine as the pipe will have a different performance characteristic and impact on the engine.

Back to basics,
This it the easiest mod to make on a first generation T-maxx.
Once you re-tune you will find that it boosts your performance.

It brings back memories of my first nitro rc.

Would I have to start leaning out or richening? In theory the exhaust fumes will be exiting quicker resulting in what?

Without knowing the engine and your current settings and ambient conditions, there is no way for us to tell you which way to go. Who knows, you may have had your engine improperly tuned to start.

I would recommend that you take the engine back to factory presets on all needles and retune from there.

I will try that right now I have a fuel line pressure problem to sort out

i agree with sky - take them back to factory setteings and go from there. But I would assume that due to the fact you will now have less backpressure, it will result in more intake as well, thus causing the engine to run slightly lean. But again - that is just for reference, the only way t truely tune is to start from the original setting s
