if you look at 2:08 you will see me show the gas tank and then it glitches and i reach for my radio.

I'm tired of this happening. is there any way to fix it or should i buy a new radio system?

the led on your radio was blinking so that is an indicator that your batteries are low. that might cause some of your glitching. check all your batteries and connections. alsotest the truck out in a different spot. i found that i had alot of interference when i had theoriginal hpi am radio gear. now that i switched to an fm radio no more problems.

p.s. wheres the rest of your truck lol

As soon as I saw that filter I had to quit watching because I can't watch someone destroy a perfectly good engine with a $5 filter. You need to take that thing off, throw it on the ground, stomp it, run over it, burn it, and and then ship it to asia so it doesn't end up over here again. Hell, I think a wadded up paper towel shoved in the carb neck might do a better job. You should also NEVER run your truck with low batteries in the transmitter, especially if you put wheels and tires on it. That's the absolute dumbest way to detroy a truck, by not having good batteries in the transmitter. Team Fast Eddy sells AA nimh batteries in bulk CHEAP, you could get a nice case of those and always have some charged up.

On the filter, when I got my RC that was the first mod I wanted because I have been building hot rods and race cars for years, and I wanted a K&N filter and braided hose and fuel lines to give it that nostalgic hot rod look. But when I did some research and saw some cylinders of engines that had been running with the K&N filters, I promised myself to do all I could to keep other people from going through the same thing. I'm sorry if what I said sounded harsh, but I would hate to see you ruin a perfectly good Savage.

The man read my mind, word for word! I've been there, done that, and ruined an engine in the process. And not a cheap engine either. It took one run to ruin an Ofna O1 Comp engine ($400). K&N filters = death for nitro engines.

That aside, the stock radio is 9/10ths of your glitching. Without the engine running and the radio gear on, just touch the antenna. That will probably result in a glitch in and of itself. Replacing the batteries will help a bit, but chances are, an upgrade to FM will benefit you in the long run.

AM radios will glitch whenever there is significant metal around (alot of cars, chainlink fence), and whenever near poorly shielded electrical wiring.

Ok ill lose the airfilter. Any suggestions on that?

What do you think is better? Spektrum dx3 or futaba fasst.

Thanks for the help guys

Either is good but the Futaba has more models in its memory.

I like my Airtronics 2.4 GHz system though  costs less than the other options too, and has more memory.

The Futaba 3PM is also good if you want to save some money. Why in the world were you running your savage with no wheels on it lol.

Your tie rods are swinging in the breeze, and often vibrating metal parts cause interference. You batteries are weak in the radio, your antenna is pushed all the way down.
That's not a very good method for us to figure out your problem.

Airfilter; either the stock one or a Motorsaver filter. Either one will be a ton better than the K&N filter.

its a RB innovations filter

ok well i tried new batteries, took off the tie rods, and pulled the antenna out. still glitching.

Look around your area that you're having glitching in. Do you see a lot of metal objects? Sheds, chainlink fencing, a parking lot, even street lamps can cause glitching. The only other possible thing is perhaps you have a loose crystal in the receiver. Pop open the radio box, and make sure everything is nice and tight.

Failing that, make sure your antenna is nice and tight inside of the radio.

nothing really around... crystals are fine

I'm at a loss, other than the antenna in the transmitter possibly being loose. See if you can tighten it or if it "wiggles" a little.

I think the antenna in the transmitter is loose. I had to take my $400 3PK transmitter apart into way more pieces thatn I wanted to so that I could finally get to the problem. I reccomend Futaba FASST. Some people say the new spektrum stuff is pretty good. I know last year A LOT of people were having problems with their Spektrum stuff, so I went with Futaba and love it. It's the best I know of for the money. I have a 3PK with a FASST module and a 3PM FASST. For the money, the 3PM is the best there is. I gave $170 for my 3PM FASST system brand new, and I've seen used ones go on ebay for $120-$125.

The first one would be more than sufficient, but you can get the 3PK with the FASST built in for a little less overall.
