So i got my (NEW TO ME) savage x out today, close to the end of my first tank, the NEW batteries in the controller petered out and i lost the brakes and steering, needless to say it came to a very sudden stop, thanks to a very large rock, I'm trying to order the parts but i can find what i need, it has blue adjustable upper arms on the front and i broke one of the turnbuckles that adjust them, does anyone know if i can buy just the turnbuckle or will i have to buy a new set of the adjustable arms? I still haven't figured out what hit the BRAND NEW tuned pipe and caved it in:\ .....lol there are 2 pictures attached that help describe my situation, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pics never came thru???? But "new" batteries died on the first tank????? What kinda batteries did you buy dollar store cheapos? It stinks when a wreck happens because of dead batteries. Killer RC sells a failsafe for you that would eliminate those stupid rocks jumping out in front of you!!! You can look up ebay and sould be able to find a cheap turnbuckle set. You might wanna replace them all as it sounds like you hit the rock pretty hard..

Savage crash

lets try the pics again. it only hit on the exhaust side, i have it apart and checked everything else.... it all looked good, and i have to admit, it i had hit that hard with a tmaxx there would be alot more damage than just a turnbuckle, shock and lower arm.

the batteries were energizer plus, thats what i run in all my rc's , i guess it just wasn't my day, but it will be a good learning experience for me with this truck as i have never owned one........so taking it apart will help with future repairs.....gotta start sometime

awhh man that sucks you just got it haha but yeah at least its being used ! things happen and i'm sure you'll have a lot more things happen later on to it. they are pretty tough trucks though.

yeah, i think just going to order some silver upper arms and eventually change it all over to silver aluminum or RPM

i like the thoughts of being able to adjust the uppers is the only reason i was considering staying with aluminum, of course i wont be racing it so i guess the adjustment isnt really needed.

Fail safe has been ordered......lol

if thats all you have aluminum its not a big deal. you will still have a weak point in the arms. but the toughest savage and any other truck for that matter is a factory truck... if it were as tough with aluminum theyd raise the price to sell em like that... take it from someone whos built all aluminum trucks and learned the hard way (too much money spent) :)

i had an all aluminum T-Maxx i built from scratch and it ended up as a shelf queen that cost me about 2 grand, these upper arms and knuckles are all that's aluminum, i think ill just buy the turnbuckles and just put it back like it was for now.

Get some on the XL or .25 style upper arms, they were solid plastic. Ok, they were not adjustable but they were a lot tougher. For bashing I am not too worried about fine tuning the camber anyway. I hit a rock hard enough to break the engine out of the mount....nothing else broke but the engine mount. Yay for Savage....and I agree my T-maxx would have never taken that.

A crash to our kind is almost losing a significant other. You never want to see it happen but someday it will. A failsafe has saved my rear end a couple times but what you really need to get is a receiver pack. They last a lot longer than aa's and provide more constant juice to the servos. Hope this helps, Steve.

My opinion.... stay away from the aluminum arms. Go RPM as they have a replacement gaurantee against breakage. The exhaust while it stinks to look at the dent I dont think it will impact performance at the least. And you can simply buy new turnbuckle ends to replace the old ones. All in all it could have been alot worse. Still baffled that the new batteries failed. Do you have the stock am radio? You could have picked up interfearance and your truck could have sprung a mind of its own for a second

still running the stock radio, it could have been interference, didnt think of that, I'm unsure what I'm going back with at the moment, but i do want to get it fixed quick so i can enjoy the truck.....only ran it twice

Crash Update

well got most of the parts on, was stuck on what kind of shocks to buy.....got some help on that, now I'm at the worse part.......waiting on parts to arrive.....the suspense kills me!!!!!

Update on My Savage X

Finally, got the ole girl back together, and after some serious adjusting on the steering servo i got'er all tuned in and going...but i have a question.....would the crushed pipe cause the engine to run any different? Maybe it just wasn't my night for tuning, it has been warmer here in the mtns of WNC so i may have the wrong plug in it not sure......ill get it worked out......all i know is when it fired up and took off out through the field i was like a 5 year old in a toy store....thanks for all the help and suggestions with the repair.

It looks like it's just a dimple in the end of it so it probably wont affect it enough to notice any real difference. I'd say run it till you get the new one.
