Do you hate having to glue up your tires? What about when you have to replace the tires and have to throw out a perfectly good wheel? Well, don’t worry; Axial has youcovered with the new Axial bead-lock series of wheels avaliable in both Axial 8 hole and Axial 8 spoke bead lock wheels. All Axial wheels are made from super strong composite material and...

I'll see about getting ahold of Matt over at Axial and see if they have any plans for Baja 5B wheels!

I just hope they're better than the proline beadlocks which cut through the sidewalls....

Are you serious? I thought about getting a set of the Proline beadlocks for my MGT.

-Michael

Yeah, especially on-road. We have parking lot races at the shop I work at, and a guy had a set of 40 series beadlocks w/ 40 series road rage tires mounted on them, and after a few runs on the track, they cut through the sidewall. And, this guy has a revo 3.3, but he's soooo gentle on it, and a lot of times, we're wondering if it's even working right, lol. He kinda seems afraid to get it into seccond gear on the back-straight, lol. Now, off-road may be fine, but I'd say no way for racing anyway.
He gave the tires back to us since they were bought through our shop, and we contacted proline, and they sent a new set of wheels and tires, 40 series road rage, but the guy who had the tires didn't want to chance them happening again so he requested proline send him some 40 series wabash wheels...which they did send us.
Good customer service though, at least they stand behind their products. It may have been an isolated incident, I'll find out all the specifics for you while I'm at work tommorrow, and find out what proline's response was and such since I was not the one who contacted proline, but I was at the track when it happened. Cut 3 of the 4 tires...pretty much ruined his day of racing...

But yeah, I'll find out if it was an isolated incident for ya tommorrow woodie.

Ok, just got to work, and here's what I found out:

We didn't send them back to proline, we sent them back to Great Planes, our distributor for proline. They sent us new rims and tires and they said it's a common problem with the proline beadlocks....anytime you use the low-profile tires that's almost gaurenteed to happen. However, something like big joes should be fine.

I just looked at the prices, is that $40-$42 per wheel? Thats crazy! $160+ for a set of wheels is a bit steep imo.

Per Wheel?!?!?!? That's FN rediculous.

Guys take a :chillpill then go read the article again, they are sold in PAIRS just like any other wheels are.

Now on a side note, I'd love to have a pair but I'm using 23mm hexs now so these won't fit. They are however sweet looking rims and I like the fact they offer different ring styles and colors.

Ok, that's better, but the site is a bit confusing, I did not see where it said sold in pairs. I like the different rings too, I really like the wide rings, they look like rock rings rather than just a bead lock. Very nice looking rims indeed!

Only a pair? Would you put them on the front, back, or both on the same side? :D

I've received an email from Matt today regarding Axial making beadlock rims for the Baja.

Hi Michael,

We are considering doing some option parts for the Baja but at present are
tied up on many other upcoming projects so can't say for sure when we might
proceed.

Thanks,
Matt

Hey WoodiE, if you need someone to do a review on a set, I would be more than happy to lend my services :D They sure would look sweet on my crawler! LOL.
