My project Maxx is almost done, just dont know what engine to drop in it.

Its the one on the left. I don't know if the .26 would have enough power to move it, and I want to know if the .32 is reliable. I'm not worried about the transmission, thats full of steel already. What do you guys think would work? What gearing would give me a little more low end power? I want it to have a decent top speed, but not bog off the start. It has a 72t robinson racing spur right now, what should the clutch bell be? Sorry there were so many questions, just want to make this thing perfect(kinda).

If the truck is a standard length chassis you would have to go with the .26 Picco. I have in my Maxx and it's great. There are a lot of better engines out there there for the same price as the Axial .32..I would look around a bit. They have reliablitiy issues after a few gallons.

picco all the way

I have a picco 26 max in my tmaxx. I know the red dot is supposed to be even better. This engine is the best thing i ever bought for my tmaxx. I have had os engines and nothing runs and sounds like an italian motor. I think it was like 160 on ebay and with that pipe you have it should scream. I have heard bad things about axials after a few gallons. Piccos dont even come to like until you get a gallon thru them and then hang on.

yeah, I would look for a good .28 instead of that Axial mill. I've read too many mixed reviews on their engines.

A question in all fairness to the quote....Are these reviews professional reviews or reviews of others who owned the engine ?

Each engine isnt built the same no matter how much the robot duplicates it over and over

Each different owner of the engine lives in a different part of the world, uses a different setup , break-in method, glowplug types and fuel brands....Then the next question falls on their tuning ability and how they took care of it during its life...did they change the airfilter after each hour of useage and how did they perform after-run maintainance?.......

I've burned through almost 4 gallons with the Axial .32 in my MGT and its still running strong as ever.......Today I was out running the MGT ,-also the upgraded to 3.3 and widened 4910 T Maxx........there was some kids that came up to me on bikes talking about their trucks and how crazy fast they were and I told them to bring them by and run them and they said they didnt have any nitro....I told them to bring the trucks and Id spot them 2 tankfuls each and they brought back 2 Savages...One X SS with a LRP .28 and the other an XL with the infamous Picco Red Dot....I've never seen a Red Dot run in person other than utube vids and Ill say both trucks werent overly impressive against the MGT with the small 4910 Classic Maxx tires and the Savage with the Picco wasn't very impressive against the 4910 w/3.3 conversion at all....both kids both look at each other and then look at me and say...."Those trucks werent running like that before what did you do??????I said... "squeezed the trigger harder"....;-laughed and explained I never open up the throttle past 75% and scream-out my engines unless theres an actual reason and laughed more.....

When I use the word "review" it is just that - a review. If somebody comes into the forum saying "x-products is awesome!", that's a review. As I've said, reviews are very mixed on Axial engines. Yours runs great. Good for you. However, not everyone's does, and when the reviews become as sparatic as they seem to be with Axial engines you have to assume that there must be some level of relevance to the actual reliability of the mill itself. Not everybody is a tuning expert, but not everybody is a noob either. These are not hard facts, just observations of the obvious. One thing is for sure, a lot of people have tried Axial engines because if you search around you'll find quite a bit of discussion about them. Why? Simple, they are inexpensive. You can't really buy a .32 size engine for much cheaper than an Axial. Yes, all engines are dissimilar in some way. However, you would have a hard time convincing me that a mill from a manufacturer with a better reputation for quality will be just as unpredictable. I can't say for sure that every person who has had problems with Axials isn't a noobie but I doubt every one of them is.

:OT: Surgemaster, will you please refrain from putting a pictrue/video with every stinking post?!?! You seem to be fairly knowledgable but that's very annoying! Especially the low-light/poor-quality pics you use.

axial is a new brand give them time and you will see there rock crawlers can't be beat and also any engine made could turn out to be a bad one when i was building my rc10gt i went threw two bad os .18 before they sent me one that didnt break a rod and its been runing for years now so if something breaks on the axial just send it in there pretty good about this things but my axial .28 is unreal in my t maxx and it holds a tune

Picco red dot

thanks guys, I think I'm gonna try the .26 MAX red dot

Get ready for some silicone gasket seal for the carb, I sold my Revo cause of that motor...from the day I bought it , had terrible air leak in every part of carb and rear bearing leaked...belive me the Axial .32 has a lot better track record than the Picco, just look up picco air leaks, even thier customer support told me the mix between composit and aluminium was the reason they leak but only offerd advice to seal carb but be carefull the motor dont suck it in or it will void the warrenty that is pointless cause they will give you another motor with airleak

i just got done dropping the axial .28 with intgey 3 shoe cluth and savage springs in my t maxx it still needs some tuning but boy is it fast now if i could just get the tires to stop spinning

Broke in my .32 axial in my Ofna LX One and it is as fast as my Jato from 0-55 I am so Impressed WOW!! and I havent ran it past 190 degrees...for the money you can't beat it...lean it up a little on break it in so you dont hurt the bearings.
