i just got the axial .28 in the t maxx i need to find a way better clutch then the stock t maxx one the axial has eaten a set of clutch shoe broke the clutch spring and killed a spur all in less then three tanks and one of the tanks it just idled the clutch engeges at idle the engine idles great but runs wierd after about a 1/4 tank it will some times lean out a little and take off for a sec nothing big but its weird never seen anything like it before i looked for air leaks but can't find any no leaks in the tank lines carb or engine not sure the engine is runing so rich it leaves a trail of exhaust on the road and some time if i rap the throttle a little it seems to load up and wants to die on me should i keep leaning it yesterday it was running around 205 to 212 and today with the same tune it heated up to 258 but ran around 246 not really sure what to do also need help finding a clutch and flywheel kit that would work with the 0.8 spur gear or a 1.0 spur gear that will work on the traxxas slipper clutch i have been told the the revo spur gear is just way to small to run with my setup and i should be runing a 72 tooth spur gear but I'm runing the 58 right now and I'm also looking for a roto start for this engine the axial one wont work with this truck i pulled the rope out of the pull starter after only six pulls not to happy with that it looks like they just glued it in place ropes not broken and theres glue all over the end of the rope any info would be great thanks for reading and I'm trying to find all the parts i will need at the lhs so aftermarket parts are out

Try a 3 shoe clutch. I use M2C for a .27 and it is great so far. There are other good set-ups too, but I have had no reason to try them yet. Fixing your clutch will probably end the erratic running, or at least make a big difference. And you should fix your clutch problems before trying to lean/tune a new engine. It sounds like the issues I had with the stock clutch and a BB engine, as well as the pull start. The roto-start does help with starting and tuning a new engine, but save your pull start because it is most likely fixable. I used a rotostart to tune mine, but then went back to the pull start.

will that run the stock clutch bell or does that run a BB bell if i could find a 1.0 spur that would fit the t maxx it would fix everything i have a BB flywheel and clutch setup but i can't find any spur gears
