me and my lack of reading. i just now realized that i didnt buy lexan paint. now every time i tap the body a huge spot of paint cracks like a blister.
any fixing?

thanks, Basher

OHHH! THAT BITES!! i did the same thing once. as far as fixing it, i saw a thread on another forum about removing paint with dot3 brake fluid and someone else used deet bug spray. i tried it on a scrap body and it was a waste of time. that sucks. sorry for your loss.

It can definitely be fixed. NCNitro told me of a way that works flawlessly, and I'm sure you could fix it with denatured alcohol or something similar. I don't remember what NC told me will take the paint right off so that you can re spray it, but he should pop in soon, especialy with a title like that, you just know it's going to be interesting.

Yep, brake fluid, but it ain't coming right off. Your gonna have to let it soak in to the paint, the brake fluid will soften the paint and you can wash it off. It will take a little work though.

I stripped an fg 1/5 body, and it took 3 bottles of brake fluid.

I'm not sure if they still make it, but there used to be some stuff cale "ELO" (Easy lift off) that a would work REALLY well. Simply would pour it into a lid, and you would watch the paint just melt off. Didnt fog the lexan or anything and would work nearly instantly. I havnt been able to find it for a while though.. Was some AWESOMKE stuff.

How about MEK, kinds of nasty to work with but we use it on large lexan hatches on boats when we have to get overspray off them.

If you used the wrong paint, some of those techniques might not work. What works for the Lexan paint might not work for lacquer or enamel.

I think someone must have had a girlfriend that pissed him off a few years back, he speaks with the confidence that only comes with experience.

It works really well if you plan it out the night before it rains, so it spreads like a virus about the cars paint!
