average running temp for savage X 4.6

hey guys,

I'm trying to get my tuning perfect but when i look in the manual it says that you shouldnt go over 250 or somthing like that but i read that some people are running close to 300.....Whats a good average temp without going to hot to overheat??...by the way its winter in ohio and very cold..

When i do take it out i always try to perfect it by leaning it out on both ends but when i come in from running and pull the plug its still really wet and shiny...i am a noob and any help is appreciated thanks

270* is usually the highest recommended safe temp.

it seems like every engine has its own "personality" i've heard of people finding there engines "sweet spot" at 300 but 270 is a safer limit i think.......
