Does anyone here autocross their 1:1?

I just autocrossed my corolla for the first time on Saturday. It was only a practice day, but I had a blast. I think i did pretty good for the first time. I managed to get times that were right up there with some Subarus (4wd). And mind you this was with a stock car in the rain.

It's pretty insane when you run. Everything happens so fast. I'll probably do it again once finals ends...might even buy a helmet :)
 
Never got a chance to auto cross it. But had a lil MX-5. Had the basic intake exhaust and header but many bracing and suspension parts. ME and Rs43drifter use to take this curvy road he lives on at 75mph in it. We've almost lost it a few times. I broke a rim one night on a down hill sharp left corner. Turned and entered fine....but left my wheel to the left and didnt counter steer as sliding and it quickly turned into a fight witht he wheel. Mx-5s arnt much for drag with out a turbo charger but hell on anythign with turns.
 
Hey Kwong - I'm not familiar with this type of 1:1 racing but It sound fun dude. I race in Texas when I have the chance but haven't done it in a while. It can be very expensive to as race insurance policies are rediculously expensive. IME you have to have a minimum of a 4-point harness (I usually run a 6) and an approved helmet for any kind of sanctioned racing in the USA. Rollcages aren't required for many types of racing. Japanese cars don't seem to hold up well when they hit a wall going 80mph.
 
30%, it's actually one of the cheapest and safest kinds of racing you can do. Basically you go to a large open lot, and cones are setup to make a mini road course. You stay in second the entire time and only go speeds varying from 20-60mph.

There's only been a few times ever, where someone has rolled their car. It's mostly just spinning out. So there's really no point in going all extreme about safety equipment

Not sure about buying insurance for racing, but I know the organizations taht do autocross have insurance. Entry fees are $20-30. So it really isn't that expensive.

Also, most places don't really have any hazards nearby to hit other than a few cones, so there's no risk to damage your car. And it helps to have the cars spaced enough to where you're agood 30 seconds from the next car.
