I'm looking into cars again guys, right now I'm between the Audi A4 and a VW Jetta. Anybody have an A4?

I've had a jetta in the past so I know what to expect, but the a4 is a different animal. I know they are made pretty much the same (euro car).

I personally like the Vw Passat V6. Fast car but has a luxuary look to it

I wouldn't mind a passat, but the wifey doesn't like them. So no go for the passat.

Whats wrong with it? Go for the WLX with leather and all the goodies she could ever want

The new jettas arent bad either though and they might be a little lighter on the wallet

My ex boss let em drive his A4 part way from NC one trip....way nice to drive...but for the price if the new jetta is anything close I'd get the nice loaded jetta.....

jetta looks like a bloated corrolla =\

if looks mean anything to you..

audi's all have a very nice style to them and if i had the money i would probly go with it.... but I'm a lowely college student.
the subaru legacy gt (fastest model not sure which one) beat the audi in a road and track car test. its also about 30k... check out all the choices. s40 325i mazda6 g35 I'm sure there are more....

My sister has this car and had lots, and I mean LOTS of problems.
From what I remember, she was trying to lemon law the car due to many electrical problems.
If you need specifics, I can call her and post the info.

I'm not looking new, but I don't like problems! The jetta we had was badass! It had everything we could ever want/need. The A4 to me looks amazing! I may take a chance with the audi, Ratman I'm hoping hers was a fluke! VW and Audi are pretty much one in the same as far as I know.

Let me check my consumer report mag and see what it says.

ok.
Here is what CR says:
Used cars to avoid:

Tested in 2004, Audi A4 (4cyl) '98-00, A4 (v6) 97-00
Also said to avoid the A6

As far as VW goes, it says to avoid the Jetta 97-03, Passat 4 and 6 cyl 98-02

Hey VB, IMO it's Audi hands down even though they are very similar cars. Audi interiors are superb! And this is coming from a bimmer guy. Audi had some reliablility problems not so long ago but did much in the way of resolving them. They do not however, offer a maintenance package any longer which is a big seller, IMO. I'm not to familiar with their CPO plan if your looking that route but don't rule out a CPO'ed 325 BMW. Also whether you are buying new or used consided resale, I'm pretty sure the Audi will offer more in that department for ya.

I vote for the Audi, they are great cars. My dad almost bought the S4 with the V-8 shoved in there, but he went with a Volvo S60-R based on price. I really like the A4s, in fact I saw an '04 for sale today when gettin some new tires, looked real nice. You'll really love Quatro in ME if you go with that. The Jetta is nice as well, but if you can go for the Audi that would be what I would do.

unless you are getting the quatro I'd save the coin and get the Jetta.....the intereior is alot nicer int he audi, but no offense meant here, are you entertaining anyone you need to impress in th ewild wilderness on N. Maine??
I mean the Jetta has basically the same engine......for the 30 - 40 HP more the Audi has I'm sure you can do the hop ups yourself and save about 10K.....
