I cannot get the E-clips to come off.Is there a easier way to do this? Its a t maxx.

use a small flat head screw driver, stick it in the back side of the e-clip,with one finger on the e-clip and spin the driver till it pops off. have fun putting it back on!!!:):):)
 
i usually use a small pair of needlenose pliars.i have used small flatheads but loose alot of clips like that?

ya, i lose them mostly when puting them on:), when I'm starting to run low, i just go on an "e-clip venture" i look in the bookcase,behind my tool box, my wife will sometimes find them by the sewing machine.. who ever invented e-clips should be shot!!
 
3 very useful tools when dealing with e-clips:
- small flat screwdriver
- a towel
- a magnet

To remove the clips, wedge the screwdriver in the gap in the e-clip. Then place the towel around it as you pry it off. That way, if it wants to take off, it will be contained by the towel.

When you go to put the clips on, place them on the pin where they're supposed to go. Place the towel over it. Then use your pliers to press them into place. Just like removing, if the pliers slip and the clip wants to fly, the towel will keep it contained.

If they do get away, a decent magnet will help you find them or fish them out of tough spots.
 
I find that needlenose pliars are a LIFESAVER when installing e-clips, and sometimes when taking them off. I just make a cup with my hand and use is like candyman said to do with the towel and it works pretty good. I once took all my e-clips off very carefully and didn't lose any, and I made a neat pile for them on my towel, but then I forgot and went to shake the dirt off the towel into the yard, there went my e-clips that I worked so hard not to lose.

I bought a big magnet, about an inch thick and as big around as a softball, from Harbor Freight for about 10 bucks last year, and everytime I finish a rebuild I check the room with that magnet and I find stuff that I never realized I lost.
 
Regualr needlenose are nice. It's also nice to have a set of angled nose needlenose pliers. They have a bend in them and are really ince for putting the clips in the back of the titanium hinge pins.

That is something I will do with needle nose pliars. Getting them on sounds tough.
 
careful using your hand to guard the clip from flying away...that usually means you are also covering the driver that might slip out and gash your hand wide open requiring a trip to the hospital and numerous stitches and taking away precious money and time from your hobby.....work smarter not harder.....

you can also do a modification to aluminum bulkheads that would eliminate E-clips altogether:
for the e-clip mod you need to make a flat spot on the A-arm pins....then drill a small hole in the aluminum bulkhead where the A-arm pins run through....line the hole up with the flat spot on the pin....tap the hole for a short set screw of your choice 2mm is the most common.....use blue lock on the set screw and you're done w/ e-clips......
this is a bit easier than it sounds and I'm sure someone has a link to the article in one of those mags I never get to read.....
 
my buddy evilhonda is changing the rear diff and my front bulkheads this weekeng so I can have her up and ready for the nice weather coming soon and my fail safe. THANKS, DAVE!

nice weather? umm have you looked outside today? winter came back pissed off didnt it.
 
we got about a foot in places. i can throw my savage off the porch and it will disappear! the biggest snow weve had in they are saying 5 years? i say in atleast a decade or more!
