Associated Nitro TC3 RTR is the car I'm getting next week... i just wanted to know the positives and negatives about it... i dont want a piece of sh*t car... i have little knowlege about r/c cars but i do know people said this ones fast and thats all i want...

Bac16 - Welcome to RCNT

The NTC3 is one of the best tournign cars available. I run the kit version and have had much success with it on the racing circuit. The RTR is a toned down version of this very famous, long standing champion.
----------------------------------
Some things to remember.
  • Keep the car stock right now - its very durable and can handle some pretty tough crashes. it is not blazing fast out of the box(the RTR), but handles like a dream.
  • Once comfortable with your driving skills - install the 2 speed tranny - u will see a large difference in accelerationa and top speed.
  • Make sure you break it in properly - the mill that comes with the RTR is not a race engine, but if properly broken in, can be a nice sport engine.
  • have fun!

Let me know if yo have any more questions. good luck!

I purchased the RTR version of the NTC3 and I love it. This car has a lot of get up and go using the stock engine. The stock radio is kinda cheap. It is a Jaguar system. I plan on upgrading it with a XS3 soon. I would suggest getting a starter box. I purchased the Ofna Multistarter Box. Part number 10246. I found this on ebay for about $65 bucks. All you need is two 7.2 sticks or a gell cell. You will have to move the doughnut to work with the NTC3. A few others suggested getting a starter box and I have not looked back since. :) Overall I am very happy with the NTC3.

I believe the carb comes with a restrictor on it as well, so when you get used to driving it and you install the two speed, you can remove the restrictor for more punch

ND is correct. The carb does come with a restrictor in it. I haven't removed it yet. IMO the car seems to be rather fast with it. I was thinking about trying it without the restrictor this weekend to see what it will do.

You will notice a LARGE improvement. Just make sure you adjust the needle settings though. removing the restrictor will cause the engine to run lean.

What settings do you suggest I start out with when I remove it? The settings in the manual probably have the restrictor figured in or will they be OK?

just tune accordingly, mc. when u remove it, maybe adjust the HSN 1/4 turn richer - and go from there, just keep checking the smoke and temp until u are happy. no worries - its easy

I also have a NTC3 and I am extremely happy with it. I noticed the previous post about the restrictor. Where is it located and how do I remove it? :marshall:

ivanp2 - do you have the kit, or the RTR?

In the RTR version, and all RTR AE products, the AE .15 engine comes with a small plastic insert, mounted in the carb. it is used to restrict air flow and slow the engine down. it just pulls right out.

wow

then lets see how fast would it be doin?? i mean the Nitro TC3 with two speed?? is it enough to kill the Traxxass Nitro 4 tec. . . .

I am not sure if the tc3 will kill the 4-tec on the straight line but it will definately melest it on the track.

Dont ya think its kinda late to change your mind?
:redbuggy: .............:sniper: :hehe: :ale:

The NTC3 would beat down on the Ld3. I think the LD3 is a copy of the NTC3 the way the chassis is setup and all that, but the NTC3 has proven itself already. Winning Multiple championships around the globe.

what have u been smoking?

The day an awful, i mean ofna can beat anything by associated is the day monkey's fly out of my butt. Team associated has won more world titles than any other manufacturer in history - they pioneered electric racing, they pioneered nitro racing, every thing they build is designed with one thing in mind - racing. ofna products are nice toys, but they will never be competitive on the pro circuit. ofna did a good job trying to copy a real car like the NTC3, but all it ended up being was a hyundai tiburon. like the hyundai, it looks like a sports car, but it aint no sports car. The NTC3 is one of the best touring cars every built in the history of RC. even with its less efficient shaft drive, it still hangs with and beats the far more expensive serpents and the like.

Okay well First I have to ask if these are chimpanzee's or gorillas?

Next order of buisness, The NTC3 is a very respectable car but I just see it as really good. Nothing Great. I mean yes its made by AE and yes it nitro and yes its fast so whats the problem? I dont know. Saying the NTC3 is one of the best touring cars ever built is totally opinion. So is saying shaft is less efficient. If you put cvds shaft could be perfectly efficient.

Finally, Serpents and Mugen-Seki's: I hope they still hang around in the TC game. If not, id hate to see a race with only one car (NTC3). Thats what makes touring exciting.

first - the NTC3 comes with CVD's standard. second - how can u say that it is nothing great when it has won more races than any other tourning car in history, nitro or electric? i think the stats speak for themselves.

second - as much as i like the NTC3, their is no arguing that a belt drive produces more efficient drivetrain power and allows for quicker acceleration. however, i still prefer the shaft drive do to its stronger durability and no mantainence.

The point i make is that even though a serpent is mroe expensive and everyone seems to think is a better car - isnt it funny how the NTC3 tends to beat it each yeat at the nationals? hmmm.

That is all true, but Serpent also might need good drivers because of the fact more and more people are switching to the NTC3 and noone has any FAITH left in Serpent or Mugen-Seki.
Well, these top performers are at the top of the world but now the underdog is de-throwning them.
You still didnt answer my question!
Chimps or Gorillas?

what - when an oful beats an AE at a national race? shoot man - f'ing gorilla's!
