Associated Monster GT

Hi there fellow Nitronians. I have just been looking at an Associated Monster GT 8.0 M/T.
Has anyone got the lowdown on this beast. I know the CEN 7.7 suffered from massive torque steer in the dirt, but I have to believe that the Associated would be a good quality piece of metal.
Anyone shed some light???? :bandit:

I don't have one myself, but everything I heard is good about them. It's one I want to try too at some point in my nitro r/c life.

I'm just getting into Nitro trucks myself. After a LOT of reading on line, I went to my local hobby shop. They're an excellent shop, and tend not to be biased (i've bought other stuff from them in the past). Anyways, the quality of the truck looks excellent, and it does have some nice features, like the FM radio & pistol grip starter with the RTR package. I believe the sevos & transmission also have metal gears. It looks like it could take quite a bit of abuse.

The only shortcoming I see, is that the parts that are unique to the MGT 8.0 (as opposed to the 4.6), like the individual tranny part aren't available yet. If something goes wrong, you'd have to buy the whole tranny. So far, I've only seen them on e-bay, or possibly through AE. Hopefully this will change soon.

If parts become available locally before my tax return gets here, It definitley goes back to te top of my list !

Since it's backed by AE, I wouldn't worry too much about parts availability. A call to them directly should get you the parts you need right away.

Thanks heaps. Anything over 4.6 and I worry about reliability. I might have a look at adding one to the collection.
If it comes quick enough I'll post my thoughts to anyone whos interested.
