what did you use to hold the shock shafts to put the little lock nut on with I don't want to damage it?
thanks we are kinda in the middle of this and are stuck

I always use a pair of needle nose vise grips..just grab a hold of the shock shaft right above the threads..On the bottom of the shock shaft
 
Ok I use a clamp or a pair of vise grips and wrap the bottom with Electrical tape. Grip the taped part gently and the tighten her down.
 
Actually, I use a small pair of cutters. You can put the jaws of the cutters between the topmost threads on the end of the shock shaft. That way you're not in danger of marring the shaft at all, but you're also high enough on the threaded part that you don't risk not being able to thread the shock end on.

I did that when I had strong but gentle cutters. Great Idea!!!
 
ok now they are spring back when they are all the way full is it supposed to do this is this ok?
 
When you assemble the shocks, fill them with the oil, but not all the way up. Leave like 1/8 inch from the top. Then cycle the shock slowly a few times. You'll see a bunch of bubbles come up. Let the shock sit until those bubbles dissipate. That may take a few minutes. Then put a little more oil in. Put a couple drops in the shock cap and screw them together. Leave the cap a little loose and push the shaft up into the shock until it's about 1/4 inch from the top. Tighten the cap down and see what the shock does. I usually build my shocks to rebound about 1/4 inch when they're compressed.
 
I have the integy shock shaft tool and make things much eaiser.
 
just want to say thank you to everyone on the forum without this I would have ahd LOTS of air in the shocks btw what is the problem with air in the shocks, something about comprssing evenly or consistently
