I was informed that the Monster GT has some week spots.
I want to get a new Monster GT, but I would like to know what short commings it has before I make a $500 investment.
Thanks in advance, Rob

I broke a steering knuckle from a light hit and upgraded it to aluminum, havent had a problem since and i bash pretty hard, just make sure u locktite everything that needs to be done, lost a set screw, thats about it so far. the suspension is soft but it jumps very nicely and handles very well. i get my integy shocks today ! woot ! PBS suspension rules ! as far as arms breaking ? i have yet to break one not to say that i wont but rpm has aftermarket set that u can get that are alot stronger then stock for cheap

A guy came into the hobby shop today and said that he broke an arm...
We can't keep the arms in stock!
I guess the next order of rpm arms will belong to me.

What the hell was the dumbass doing to break an arm? I have throughly bashed my truck, even droped the front CV leaving me with two wheel drive. I have rebuilt the CVA's and it is still going strong.
I was reading another post about the grub pin and some guy not being able to get it out. Bummer, I twisted my allen wrench 1 complete turn so I understand his frustration. But it finally gave up!
:whack:

oh yeah BTW I have seen those arms on ebay for cheap by RPM like $8.95 for two pair. It seems pretty reasonable with lifetime warranty. :devious:

Yes that was me.
I wound up drilling it out.

I just put a set of RPM arms on my MGT just to beef it up,I'm either gonna sell the stock ones or use em as spares (although I doubt it would be too easy to break one of these RPM arms).there's quite a difference between the stock ones and the RPM ones,I put a pic together to show just how much of a difference.

Yeah i see that. I just orderd them. I want to get them on asap

Why keep the extra stock set, if u break rpm u get another for free! I guess if you can't bear waiting 1-2 weeks u could keep the stock set but i hate taking my maxx a-arms off, but mayb its different with a mgt.

I would keep at least one set of stockers as spares because I don't like having downtime with my stuff.while I'd wait for replacement RPM arms to arrive,I would just put a set of the stock ones on.

he was probably jsut having fun. youd be surprised at how much can break if you hit at jsut the wrong angle from a routine jump gone wrong. regardless i do hear about the a-arms on MGT's breaking often...but that seems to be the only thing I've been hearing about. RPM's will fix that.

RATZOrc, you need to see my post:
https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19085

I have been beating (racing and bashing) the living snot out of my MGT for a month. Absolutely NO breakage. I continue to be amazed and impressed. But then, I have two T-Maxxes so it doesn't take much to impress me. After all the money I have spent fixing broken T-Maxx parts, anything would be a pleasant surprise.

To fix each corner get the rpm arms and knuckles and it won't break unless you run into something very solid. I've broken both knuckles and arms from just jumps but with the rpm parts it's held for the last 4 months no breakage. Another added bonus of the rpm knuckles is the addition of oversize wheel bearings. The stock ones are pewny T-maxx size ones that foul readily with dirt and seize up while the rpm bearings stay clear for a much longer period of time. Well worth the cost.

Ratzo, I traded another forum member her for one awhile back. It has proven to be pretty reliable. I broke a set of the stock from arms, from hitting a pole at only part throttle, and have yet to take it to a track to race or bash over jumps. The rear shock tower and arms' where already aluminium when I got it, so they haven't even came close to breaking in the light bashing I've done. I have managed to blow up a couple of the stock shocks while just driving it hard on flat land. (don't ask me how) I'm currently considering getting rid of it, in favor of getting an 1/8th scale buggy to go racing with. I really like the truck, but I don't see myself racing a monster truck really. I tell ya, the best mod's I did for it was add a stiffer oil to the shocks, and buy a set of 40 series proline big joe's with velocity wheels. Truck handles 10 times better then with the stock stuff.

p.s. Send me a pm if you think you might be interested in a used one.

UNTCHBL, I bought a monster GT about 3 or 4 months ago. But thanks.

damn me for not reading the blasted dates. lol

I think I want to let mine go to pursue an 1/8th scale.

I just bought the Kanai 3. Having a blast putting it together.
Look in the buggy forum if you didn't see it being built.

I've been following closley. I'm planning either the k3 or the mbx5, gotta see what the mgt goes for first though.

I wish you lot's of luck. These buggies are expensive!!

hey, I hear ya there. Why I would have to get rid of the monstergt. Plus, since I've started racing the rc10gt, I just can't see myself bashing that much. I love racing.
