apache ground fire video from Iraq looking at targets
via the FLIR system Forward Looking Infa Red from the apache.

Pretty much, though the caliber is alot smaller, and the delay is a bit shorter.

You talkin about the AC-130 video, or the Apache vid?

Note that the AC-130 was 6 miles out in the begining of the vid, and ends up probably about 3 to 4 miles out near the end.

That first one is awesome. I love the glowing chunks of meat where the first guy was. I wish I could designate all my federal taxes to go to blowing apart scumbags. That reminds me I tried to join the army in 1983 for the heli flight program (apaches) but my eyesight wasn't good enough. Damn that could have been me hosing them down with 20mm exploding rounds.

I always wanted to G-hog with a mortar.

I have read in precision shooting about some guys using 50 cal bolt (sniper) rifles to hunt groundhogs. At least they don't have to bury the things. Now ya see 'em, now ya don't. Not much left.

50 cal will do plenty damage. Some after action reports from Iraq said that the the 50 cal sniper rifle actually ripped bodies in half. thats true psychological warfare for ya.

There is a video called Exploding Varmints where they shoot praire dogs with 22-250. It is pretty funny, they just blow up in a pink mist, with chunks fying in all directions.

Years ago we used to shoot sparrows with 22 hollow points and poof.... Shot a sqirrel once with a 270. Made a mess out of it. Even the dogs didn't want it.

yup, the 22-250 is just a gnats ass slower than the 220 swift (my fav.) As they say, speed kills.
