Hey guys

Just wondering if any of you guys use sidewinder 30% fuel with your Mugen X12 or any other engine. Were you guys happy with the performance? Did you guys have to shim your engine?

Thanks

No need to shim, use a Medium STD. or Turbo plug, not sure about std. but I use Novarossi T6TC turbo plugs.

can't comment on sidewinder, I would use Mugen Seiki or Byrons if possible.(They're the same thing)

According to diver, the engine doesn't like Odonnel.

Odonnel is similar to white lightning, so avoid that too with that mill.

Well, my X12 had a standard plug. As far as "liking" O'donnel, sloeg1n's X12 didn't perform as well as we would have liked it to perform. When he switched to Byron's, it really woke up and did very well.

All I use now is 30% Byron's racing fuel.

When using 30%, shiming shouldn't have to be done as long as you realize that you can't use the same plug you would regularly use for 20%. You may need to go to a medium plug to compensate for the higher nitro content. What you are doing is sdjusting the combustion timing with the plug. Too hot and you will get pitting. Too cold, and you'll get misfires. For a not so humid day, a C6tgf will be fine. For hot humid days like we have been having lately a C7tgc or C6tgc will be necessary.

Funny you guys mentioned O'donnels with this engine. I used 20% O'donnels for the first 2-3 tanks after break in, and you guys are right...the engine didn't really like O'donnels fuel. I switched to trinity 20% and it was a little better but not much. I figure, since the engine is a Novarossi, it can definitely handle 30% with ease. I've heard good things about sidewinder fuel, so I decided to try it out. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I'm currently using O'donnel, thats what I used to break it in, I only ran it one time though.

It will probably slow down after a few more runs.

I'll be getting Mugen Seiki or Byrons, I would get it anyways since it has a higher oil content, O'donnel is only like 8%.

The oil content in sidewinder is 11% for the 30% race fuel. I'm thinking that should be good enough for the engine.

Wow my car was one of the fastest cars on the back straight last week. And I use O'donnel 30%. I love it. Besides the smell I have no complaints.

Good luck.

Didn't notice a thing .... :boxing:

People that complain about the smell of fuel I don't understand.

If it performs well, who cares about the smell.

It's like when people complain about how digital servos are noisy, you dont listen to your servos or smell fuel when driving.
