I would say your good with what you have... my experince with on-board temp guages is that they werent really too accurate... the difference between an mip on board and my duratrax flashpoint was about 15 degrees, and the diff between the flashpoint and a high dollar snap-on was about 17 degrees... so i would stick with what ya got.

I picked up two this last Saturday. A little pricey at over 50 bucks, but it does a lot. Going to use them in my buggies. I use micro F/S's in my 1/10 cars and trucks, though.

It also is a little big, about 1" x 2", and about 1/4" thick.

It has numerous options for set up. One of the coolest features is the ability to have it reduce power to a level YOU choose at a temp YOU choose. It also acts as a failsafe under two other conditions, one being loss of transmitter signal and the other loss of battery voltage. You can set it to go into fail mode at a battery voltage level YOU choose, with their suggestion being to set it for 4.2 volts.

Like I said above, worse thing is the size. Ok for buggies, but may be a problem for road cars or tight areas on a 1/10 truck.

I grabbed one, works well.
The temp fail safe is cool once you know what temp your mill likes to run at.
The volt meter is nice to see where your pack is at.
I put one a Touring car, fit great on the top deck. Will probably get one for my XXX-NT.

there is typically a small POT adjustment that you use with a small screwdriver. just turn the car on and leave the radio off. turn the POT untill your vehicle is either in neutral or applying brakes. whichever you want. its set, easy as that. the new venom one that this topic is on will require more steps, but they will be outlined in the instructions when you buy it.

Actually, the set up is somewhat complex, but the instructions take you through it pretty well. The set up uses successive screens for each set up function. You can skip a step by using the default set up for that screen, in case you are not ready to have that option activated or changed. As you scroll through the screens, some screens have even more details for additional options. Control of the screens is by little rubberized buttons, similar to the ones on the other Venom products. No special tools are needed or included, you just use your fingers.

has anyone heard of a controller other than the nomadio or whatevever it is...that gives this data via the Tx Display?
I'm surprised a company like Futaba has not integrated these functions into a controller like the 3PK......I like the features on that nomadio but it just looks cheap...too cheap to warrant 600 bucks anyway...

read my ENTIRE post. and the one above it, which it answered.

Ok, I, too, have a Venom VST failsafe and temp guage. Some background, first. HPI Savage 4.6 truck, with Futaba 3PM-FM radio. Not running in HRS mode, or PCM. But, here is an odd question. When I kill the TX to simulate loss of signal, the carb closes and pulls back on the brake like it should. But...... the front wheels go all spastic. The truck (i tested it not running) will be stopped with the throttle closed and brake set, but I am concerned about that jittery, full lock steering servo. I mean, if the truck is stopped by the fail safe, that's fine, but if this is a fault with the VST that might cause problems at extreme range, then I will go back to my old ofna fail safe.
Anyone have this happen? I emailed Venom just now, but thought I would ask here, as well. Thanks!
