Sorry no picture but when I was a kid I had a "radio shack" type red 1978 Camaro Z-28 r/c car. I loved that thing and by the time I got into the Hornet years later it had been broken for awhile but I thought I could take it apart and use the top half as a sort of body for the hornet (I love Camaros and own a real 86 Z28 that's been played with quite a bit). Anyway, I drilled holes in the front for the front shock shafts to pass through and rubber banded it to the hornet, essentially ruining it. Then after crashing and cracking the rear of the Camaro totally off it was real garbage and time to throw it away.

I look on Ebay all the time and have NEVER seen this car on there. With all that's on Ebay this car hasn't come up once, not at least that I've seen. The best I can describe it is it was red with chrome plastic wheels, black windows, and a black two stick control that kind of looked like the old black Futaba stick radios. It also came with some racing decal sheet. If anyone has one or any pictures of one please post them so I can see it again and/or possibly buy it. I'd love to own that car again.

i dont know about that, this forum is more of people with more advanced cars than "radioshack" cars. I think if you look on tyco website for a while or nikko, you may find what your looking for.

I know but this is the General Electric section afterall so I figured I'd put it out there. It's a nice story though isn't it?

I dont know about you redhatman but I started with "radio shack" and "wal-mart" R/Cs..........

As far as the camaro, I didnt have that one year but I did have the '69 camaro they came out with a few years back, still have it too........looks like crap but it still runs!! LOL good luck finding one like you had

Great story man! My very first rc was a late 70's vette, not sure where it came from but I loved that thing. If I see what your looking for I'll be sure to pass it along to you.

Cannot say what model, but I started with Tyco's Turbo Hopper and had a Rat Shack Golden Arrow(a Nikko)buggy.

The simple old days, where a stock 540 class Mabuchi was a powerhouse and the end all motor

Remember when they added a turbo on the throttle stick? I thought that was the coolest thing ever...Little did I know it was just a two step msc...It was still cool.

Does it happen to be blue with big rear tires and the woodpecker gasser decal on it? My neighbor had one just like that when I had mine. Yeah they were slow as anything but they were the greatest when you were 6 years old, plus you could drive them in the house too!!

Redhatman, STFU you tool! There's nothing on this site that says it has to be "an advanced" R/C! Jesus man, think before you type something out!

Mnimud, I think I know what you're talking about, but it's been years since I've seen one! I'll keep the peepers peeled and if I spy something, I'll pass it along.

hey mnimud, sry if you took my first comment offensively. It wasn't at all meant as an insult. Others may think so *cough, monkey wrench, cough* but i didnt mean it as an insult. Sorry about that, just had to clear things up.

Not a problem, apology accpeted. No no need to argue guys though I did appreciate the support in my defense.

Forget about it, the more time spent arguing the less time you're looking for my camaro

:jk:

Mnimud dont mind Redhat.. hes kinda.. well.. Is a moron. Youll get use to him like the rest of us, and just take it with a grain of salt. But anyway, yeah that was a cool story. I actually still have my 1st rc. It was a Nikko car/buggy thingy..lol.. The thing takes 9 "AA" batteries in the car and 6 in the remote, and would run for like 15 minutes..lol.. It was awesome though. Then I "Upgraded" to a Thing that had a track on each side and could spin in a circle. Luckily that one was a rechargeable (24 hour charge..them were long nights..lol) Them were my 1st cordless ones anyway.. Member the ones with the cords?? How dumb right?? lol..
